    Hi all,

I just did something very unfortunate that may have damaged my Asus G51J, causing it to not turn on. I was trying to plug a pair of headphones into the 3.5 jack, which is right next to a USB port. Apparently, I was a little bit off with my aim, and the metal tip of the headphone plug went into the recess of the USB port. Something must have shorted because the laptop immediately turned off and will not turn back on again. It is completely unresponsive.

Is my computer fried? If so, would it most likely be the motherboard that is damaged? This just makes me sick... :(

Sorry to hear that, I can see on my G73 the positioning is very close and poorly designed-- Try removing all power sources, press and hold the power on button 15 seconds, release it and try to power on. Also try pressing the reset button on the botton, you will need a straightened paper clip. If all that fails, I would take it to a repair shop
