Just bought a used Asus G51VX off Ebay. It's in great condition, save for one item.

There's this "grate" looking thing, for a few speakers and buttons, above the keyboard with hairs and gum stuck under it. Very, VERY nasy looking. :( If I could take this "grate" off, I can clean it out easy... But that's the problem. I don't know how.

Hopefully the attached pics will better explain what I'm talking about (not the actual laptop in question; but the exact same model). Is there anywhere with instructions on how I can remove this (or could someone explain it), so I can clean under it?

Thank you deeply in advance, for any help that can be offered.

The whole top part with the touchpad and palmrest all the way back to the speaker grille area is one piece. See the g50 disassembly guide. To clean it without taking the keyboard and whole top part off you could use a toothbrush for the speaker grille and a damp cloth for the rest.

Thank you. The toothbrush trick worked perfectly. Now I have a G51VX that looks and operates like brand new. You da Man. :)
