Hello,
I've been trying to read up on how to setup my laptop in RAID. I have two 320GB 7200 RPM Drives and was wondering if its possible to set them up in RAID. I was planning on going with RAID 0 for the performance as I have backup drives that I store all my important files on. I will be putting Windows 7 x64 on the system. If it is possible to set these two drives up in RAID 0, could someone point me in the right direction on how to set them up?
Thanks!

The BIOS of the G51VX has to support RAID. Check in BIOS if RAID is an option to select.

only the non Best buy models can do RAID 0... the best buy ones cannot so if you got a BB one, good luck

If I remember correctly that laptop does support RAID. during boot hit f2 to get into the bios, go to the advanced tab, IDE settings and change the SATA configuration to RAID. You will have to reload your OS once you do this however FYI.

You can search the web for a registry fix that will allow the Intel drivers to redetect the mode of the SATA controller and reinstall itself. I've done this a couple of times myself on desktop systems, and it does work. 2 reboots later and all is good, and you need not have to reinstall. (It involves setting one of the registry settings to "0", but I forget which.)
