I have just bought an ESATA cable adapter for my Seagate GoFlex 2.5" drive. But after plugging it into the ESATA port but there is no power on the Hardrive. If I use my USB 2.0 adapter into my USB port it works fine. I have tried looking everywhere to see if maybe the ESATA port is not powered, but I cannot get an answer. Does anyone know how I can know if it is powered, if it is not (which is what it seems like), does anyone have a suggestion how to get it powered? Suggestions most welcome. Thanks.

I did not think it was powered, which was a huge disappointment when I had mine.

Very disappointing if that is the case, as my hardrive is already full and I want to use my external drive for my data. Is there anyway to convert it, or get a cableadapter that will give my GoFlex Hardrive power?

None of the G series have ever had eSATAp. I went looking for an esatap to esata adapter the other day but I didn't find one. There are ones that will go the other way, esatap to dc power + esata, but none that will do usb power + esata to esatap. If you find one post a link.

I have been looking, and have only seen the esatap/USb to USB, Dc power and esata cable. I will try and go to an electronics shop and see if we can connect the power wire to a USB 2.0 - a bit of a maverick move, but I really dont want to buy another hardrive just to be able to use the ESATA speed. THe only other option I can think of is to use the Express card as a powered ESATA port. Not sure whether I will get the same speed though....

You will need one item:
"Micro SATA Cables - USB A Male and eSATA to Power over eSATA Cable Adapter" from Amazone.com. The Micro Sata Cable adapter goes between the T410 eSATA port & a USB port, and the GoFlex powered eSATA STAE103 cable connected to the GoFlex drive. Since it terminates on a powered eSATA female, you can also use to connect 2.5" drives directly to it using an adapter like the "Shared eSATA Cable for 2.5" SATA Laptop Hard Drive", also available in Amazone.com
I hope this helps.
