I want to buy one of these two notebooks. The asus recently I concidered, it attracted me because its quite a lot cheaper than the hp and has better specs (including the display which is hd and the DV6 not). The thing is, i do not know anyone who has any of these two, and the hp seems of a more solid construction but to the pocket ($$) is more expensive and less specs.
I leave the specs of each and a couple of pictures to see which are:

The good thing about this is that it has blue ray reader (idont know if i really gonna use it much) and the touch screen, but the video card does not get to the 360 of the asus and the display is 1366x768: (

I personally own the G51JX-A1 and it is a great machine. I never have seen that HP in person so I can't comment on the build quality but I can say I am very happy with my G51. With better specs on the ASUS and a lower price I'd say get the ASUS. And just a personal preference, I like the nvidia card better then the ATI. You will also get a 2yr warranty with the ASUS vs HP 1yr
