Having trouble with Windows 10, and wanted to see if it is just me. I tried using a USB drive to install the upgrade from Windows 7, and shortly after reboot get a "device not found" error and can't finish installation or recover. I tried removing the second disc drive and changing to Compatability Mode in the bios, then reinstalling Windows 7 from the Asus Disc (just Win 7 and the Asus Drivers and Utilities discs, no other software) and get the same result. I haven't been able to find any information specific to this model and would appreciate any help.

    TIA

Can you exactly describe the boot process and the error you get when trying to install windows 10 or 7.

No problems at all installing Windows 7. On the Windows 10 install (attempted first from the "Upgrade this computer" option and again after creating a 64-bit installer on USB), it does the first reboot and gets to the circle progress screen and at about 13% it reboots and I get a bluescreen with a "Device not found" error code. After that, I can get the repair or reboot screen, but attempting to roll back to 7 or repair either OS fails and gets me back to the bluescreen "Device not Found" error on every reboot, with or without media in the USB or DVD drives..

I would try installing off disc instead rather than USB then.

Any particular reason? It failed on the HDD install method, which is on the same SATA controller as the DVD, so I can't see any compelling reason to spend a few hours doing it again (for the third time) unless there is a difference in the install media that I am not aware of...

If you don't have the time for such issues at the moment I strongly recommend staying with 7 as 10 is likely to have other issues as a new OS just now. Wait a few months.
