My new Asus G53- seem to have some USB troubles after the computer has been on for a few hours.

They no longer function, but the usb3 port seem to still work.
For example, my mouse would stop functioning after I come back but the light on the mouse still works when i re-plug them in the usb2 socket.

I'm using standard win7 that came with computer.

    Any ideas appreciated !!

The USB3 controller is separate from the USB2 controller.

Yes I am aware of that - but what could have caused the UBS 2 to fail ? its all fine if I reboot.

And if i go to device manager to view tabs of the usb hub properties, it gets stuck and freezes.
