So, I should be receiving my G53JW sometime next week, if all goes as planned. My question is, what should I be checking or doing when I get my computer in order to ensure that it is running at its peak potential. Also is there any software suggestions to maintain performance? Thanks.

For the software side, check out David's excellent Asus Utility and Bloatware Guide.
For the hardware side, since nobody has it yet, there's not really an owner's lounge, but since it's extremely similar to the G73Jw you might read through that lounge thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-reviews-owners-lounges/518687-asus-g73jw-owners-lounge.html -
Check for dead pixels

Also, carefully/rigorously/systematically test keyboard and mouse for proper functionality.
Install monitor(s) like CPU-Z and carefully run stress test(s) like Furmark/Prime95 - check idle and load temps for any sign of over-heating.
Run some kind of battery test to check for defective battery. GL. -
K thanks guys. I will do all this.

and also is there a program for dead pixel? or u just gotta look for it yourself lol..
