Hello all. I have recently purchased an Asus G53JW. Used, through ebay, so I'm SOL if I can't get it fixed. Lesson learned I guess.

Anyway, what is happening is when I play Borderlands 2 it will often crash. I have owned the laptop since December 7th 2012, and have had around 10 BSOD's since then. Unfortunately all the minidump files were lost when I did a clean install of windows. After the clean install, I have had 3 crashes. One was a BSOD when I was not playing Borderlands 2, and I have the minidump file for that. 2 were when playing Borderlands 2, and I didn't get a blue screen. Just a frozen screen and frozen audio (not sure how to say it, it was just repeating a tone over and over). I had to turn the computer off and on manually. Those 2 times, I have no minidump file. So I don't know how to analyze what was going on.

For the previous minidump files, what I have tried so far can be found here: Loads of Blue Screens - MajorGeeks Support Forums (on those forums I am Canzealander).

It crashed when I played Civilization V as well before the clean install of windows. I do not play Civ V as often as Borderlands 2.

As to when it crashes, sometimes 30 minutes in, sometimes 2 hours in, sometimes not at all during a play session.

It never crashed while playing Walking Dead.

It works fine when I surf the net and watch netflix.

Borderlands 2, Civ V, and Walking Dead are the only games I have played so far on this machine.

Has anyone had any similar problems?

Any idea of what the problem could be?

Any idea of how I can isolate the issue?

Posting here in hopes of an Asus G53JW guru or something similar.

I am virtually computer illiterate; all I know I learn from google. I have never taken a computer apart, or put one together.

What drivers did you use for the clean install?

If you're only using the asus drivers i would suggest you update your graphics card driver.

This link should work for you.

    Drivers | GeForce

Download, run, select clean install and reboot.

    Test your game.
