    Hello,

I called Asus Support Belgium and they told me they didn't know for sure if you could replace the HDD without voiding the warranty.

Now my question is if you know if you can replace the HDD with and SSD without voidng the warranty.

    Thanks,

    Vincent

Personaly I think it should not. BUT. if you need to RMA the unit, put the computer back to how it was when you bought it.

Never sent it away with your SSD in it....

THere's no seals involved in replacing HDDs on G73s...

Windows Experience Index (WEI)? 7.6 for the SSD. My lowest WEI score is 7.0 for the processor.

The Warranty Trolls want you to take your laptop to a service tech to do any modifications.

my G53 has a yellow seal over the connector for the trackpad, which is necessary to remove to access the HDD bays.

Costs us $50 to get it changed here..not free!!

But If you break it, that's the warranty only for the trackpad or for the whole thing?

If you break any warranty seal, you void the warranty for the entire unit. :(

It's not yellow seal, some cream colour tape. It's not saying "Warranty Void If Removed"

That's probably just normal tape, that is used to keep the keyboard, mouse, and other small wires & connectors secured to the chassis. It won't void the warranty unless it actually says warranty on the sticker.

Yes. It's just a tape to secure the connector. No big deal.

really? so i can rip it off once and for all? it seems like a very fragile tape with not too much function.. and does not have any writing on it.

been trying to keep it nice and neat !

I know there is another one on the top right of the notebook. (near the power botton).

the only one you should be worried about is the sticker that covers the screw(s) holding in the CPU and in some cases the GPU. Though i've sent my laptops back to asus with the sticker intact and returned without the sticker so......YMMV when i see it off it only means i can swap stuff in ;)
