    Hello all,

I repasted my Asus G53JW because of heat issues (both CPU and GPU).

Now, when I try to power it, there's nothing on the screen, and few buttons are lit: first one (lights toggle), scroll lock, num lock and power button. Also after few seconds I can hear the fans going on full power. After I keep the power pressed to shut it down, it restarts by itself for a few seconds then it finally shuts down.

I disassembled and reassembled it 10 times by now, checking every wire, every screw, repasting the GPU again, checking for contacts underneath the video card (it has a big black plastic allover, so nothing is touching the motherboard) etc. I tried the removal of battery/AC and pressing power for 30 seconds, then plug them in both, or one at a time, same thing happens.

Anyone can hint me what else I can try? Could I have broken the GPU/CPU somehow? I cleaned both with alcohol and used IC Diamond for both and followed the screw order.

The laptop is out of warranty.

    Thanks in advance

How well grounded were you? Stray static discharges from the body can cause damage to electronics. Grounding cords and keeping in contact with a grounded surface can help this.

Hi, hope I get an answer since the older post has a few months, I just wanted to know if you were able to resolve this issue? Thats exactly what is happening to me, leds on, and fan going to low to high and then shutting down, no bios, no hard drive led blinking other than 2 seconds at the moment I press the power button. I just repasted the GPU, but im considering to repaste the CPU too, and put thermal pads on the chips around the GPU, now that I know what those things are, because the first time I disassembled this part of my laptop, they were like out of shape blue pads, however I didnt know thermal pads existed and just removed them. If someone else see my post, would you mind to give me an opinion about how true is that it could be a issue related with the handling of the components with the hands? And if this related, what could have been damaged? The GPU board or the motherboard, so I could think about to spend a lot of money to fix something that Im not really sure is going to work, and Im on tight budget, and was opting to build a gaming desktop with my own bugdet and time. Thanks ASUS for dissapointing me since the begining, because my G53SX gave me problems since the first few months.

Please don't post the same issue in multiple threads, a user with one post is unlikely to be around over 6 months later.

If you got a response after 6 months then you should be buying a lottery ticket as you are being absurdly lucky that day.
