I would like to upgrade the stock wifi card to the Intel 6205 wifi card. My question is what steps are required to do this?

I know how to take the keyboard and touchpad back to access the back of the G53JW. Once I'm at that step, do I simply remove and replace the wifi card, or is there more disassembly required.

Also, I can't seem to find a guide to do this and I'm afraid I'll break something.

    Any ideas?

i upgraded to intel 6200 wi-fi so it should be the same, just get access to the back of the laptop, and then remove the 2 antenna cables by just removing them (no screws required) and then open the 2 screws and then remove and then put your new one and return the antenna to its places...

i belive you have 2 antenna cables like me 1 white 1 black i put them back as they were in the old wi-fi card, congratulations you got yourself a new wi-fi :D

One more question since I'm still waiting for the card to be delivered. Will I loose Bluetooth functionality when I swap cards?

depend on whether the BT chip on your laptop is on the mainboard or on the wifi card, as soon as you disassemble it you will know.

The purpose of upgrading is to get faster wifi speeds of up to 300 mbps vs the 150 mbps of the stock card.
The whole problem is that I don't know if the BT chip is ont the wifi card or on the motherboard.

eXpert - thanks for all of your help so far. Could you confirm that the BT is able to connect to something/anything? Thanks!!!!

as far as i did by replacying my old atheros wi-fi card, i only removed the 2 antenna cables nothing more nothing less, also do not remove the atheroes driver because in that driver there are 2 drivers 1 for the atheroes wi-fi and the other one for the bluetooth ! just let it there and youwillbe fine.

ps:there should be a white/blue icone near the time/date bar when you click on it it will tell you to enable/disable the wi-fi/bluetooth :D if you remove the driver you wont be able to enable/disable the bluetooth nor the si-fi even for the INTEL wi-fi card.

hope you understood me, good luck !
