I'm ordering a G53Jw, but I want to know what it's screen is like. What is the contrast ratio and brightness?

The owners forum has some reviews, as does notebookcheck.net - but it's apparently decent but not great.

The brightness is good, but contrast is apparently under 300:1. Many users have reported success with screen calibration devices/software or simply tweaking the display settings in the Nvidia control panel to overcome any perceived faults. It seems to be a matter of taste, but unless you're a photo/video editor or a "pure black" fanatic, it will probably be fine.

For a 15" laptop is probably on the better side. The best LCDs are still 17" as the market for high end laptops capable of being worthy workstations are still 17" and larger. Likely only 3 are better. HP Dreamcolor, Dell RGB LED, and Apple's antiglare HD LED. Any other screen is probably around the same if they are decent.

I thought the screen was rather exceptional.

Max brightness was very pleasing and I had an enjoyable experience browsing/surfing/reading due to this fabulous screen.

On my previous MSI GX740, the screen was such garbage I had to sell it b/c I couldn't read properly and the letters were splattered.

G53JW's screen was a BIG blessing.

So would it be a good upgrade/noticable one from a G72GX with a 191:1 contrast ratio?
