    Hello,

i have no idea why but the laptop has decided there is no blu-ray drive anymore and isnt finding it. im also having trouble finding driver online because the internet is clogged up with spam sites.
any help would be appreciated, as i want to watch house at work.

    cheers

Problem found, my computer has become self aware and disabled the hardware in system on it own, Skynet is here and its starting with annoyances

Did you install or have installed a blu ray drive. The G53SW models come standard with a DVD/CD combo drive but blu ray is not included. Go into device manager and find your ODD model number, google it and check to make sure it's a blu ray.

Ah yes the 3DE model did have a blu ray. Does the drive recognize CD/DVD anymore or is it totally dead. You're not finding drivers because optical drives dont need drivers to work. You do need software to play movies but it should still recognize there is sometime in the drive. There is separate lasers for blu ray and dvd/cd, it's possible the blu ray laser has failed. If its not working a warranty claim would be in order.
