So I have this G53 for about 1 year and 5 months. for about a while now the low fps issue makes it impossible to play continuously on my laptop. Currently I am playing arctic combat and it is not a very demanding game as far as specs go. All my laptop specs are much over the recommended specs for this first person shooter game. However even when playing on the lowest settings and 1280x720 resolution I start getting low 15-25 fps after every 5 games. so I wanted to monitor my temps and downloaded throttlestop. So for the last few times I've noticed that my gpu temp rises to 100-102 degrees and that is when I start getting the fps lag. Anyone else experience a problem like this? is the temp normal or are there any fixes for this?

I have the latest gpu drivers and my cpu while playing game is still only at 48-55%... People with much lower specs than me play this game in high settings with much more fps, however I can only play on low settings because of fps lags...

    Specs of my g53 sw
    core i7 2630
    8gb ram
    gtx 460m 1.5gb
    windows 8 professional

i close all other programs while running the game and there are no useless services running.

    Thanks

Sweep your drivers than reinstall the latest ones available.

I don't think this is a driver issue.

First of all, are those temps in Fahrenheit or Celsius? If Celsius, the GPU temps are causing severe throttling and could be causing damage. You need to open up your laptop and clean out the inside (including the fans and heat sinks) with some compressed air.

It is in celcius and I thought so too that it was over heating. I just bought a laptop cooler today and the gpu seems to stay at 72-84 max now even after 6-8 games, where as it would be at 100 after 4 games before. However after 6-8 games there is a little bit of fps drop, not as much as previous times, but still noticeable.
I will try to clean the fans and heatsink, not too comfortable opening it up myself haha

Yeah you're right. Didn't read through it properly. It needs a repasting. The factory TIM wore out. The heatsinks might be clogged up with dust as well. I recommend this paste: Amazon.com: Antec Nano Diamond Thermal Compound Formula 7: Electronics
