Here's my Asus G53SW GPU Repaste before and after temps!
I noticed that the exhuast port for the GPU was kinda obstructed with an over abudance of black foan so i used a razer knife to cut off and shape it to the correct size i really think this will help cut my temps a good deal alone.
My thermastat is set @ 74 degrees F.

furmark @ 640x360 Resolution ( STOCK Thermal paste)
90 degrees C after 15 minutes with no laptop cooler.

furmark @ 640x360 Resolution ( IC Diamond Thermal paste)
Result will be up before the nights over! ;)

ICD is the way to go :) 90oC is ok with the G53 but still quite high although Furmark does push things towards the 90's. Clean out those fans while you are in there and when running Furmark again make sure that resolution is pushing the GPU to 100% load as that is quite low. :)

I just got it today, so its all pretty inside :) yeah i really think that the foam blocking my GPU's exhaust port was part of the reason i was getting such a high temp. Yeah when i run Furmark on my desktop's it pushes the hell out of the GPU's! by far higher than any game will ever see. Im just waiting on my SSD from the EGG before i close it all up and start testing.

Hey is there a GPU fan upgrade/mod??? Im also got some copper heatsinks coming that im going to place on the heatsink of the GPU to help reduce the temps.

Not that I know of and the fans are set to run at different speeds in these models so it would not make much difference having a more powerful fan unless you intend to control it manually.

I cant comment on any copper mods and personally dont recommend them with the Asus heatsink they are not well made and hence why they use pads to make sure the gap from core to sink is minimal. However if you know what your doing knock yourself out :D

Well good luck with this and if you could document and capture your work and post it on the forum this would be very helpful as we have not had anyone that has yet conducted a successful copper heatsink mod for the G73. :)

would also be interested in seeing a thread about your results in copper modding the G53SW.

Just curious, which SSD did you order?

If you had already attempted a repaste then during the disassembly you have most like placed something over the reset button when you have put it back together so you need to take it apart again and check to make sure this is not the case.

Otherwise you could be faced with the G53 power on problem. Even so dont just return from a minor issue look into fixing it first.

Only if you remove the seal from the CPU in the G73 but if you break something there is nothing to say they wont reject the RMA if they think you have opened it up.

If you just repaste the GPU and reassemble there is no real way for them to know without claiming the paste has changed colour :)

My G53SW is brand new, I have been using it about 3 weeks. So there are no dust. I dont have have any problem to open or to void my warranty. Replacing the orginal thermal compound for a new one, I believe better one(artic cooling mx-2 or mx-4, artic silver 5), will improve my temperatures? Also should I look for foam blocking the way out? I just waiting for my thermal compound arrive to open the case. Thanks.

I having temp like 86c under heavy load without oc, and 60c in idle.

I will open mine to remove this foam and to repaste. Where can I find a good video like how to open a G53SW?
    I just found for G73.

You tube mate. Theres a g53sw disassembly video althought the view is quite discussible.
Or search for g53jw disassembly it's the same thing.

    Kingpinzero,

I see you have a laptop like mine. Which are your temps right now? Did you repasted?

    Nope I didnt.
My temps under furmark at 814/1628/1625 are 92c.
In general gaming sessions, it reaches 80c, sometimes 84 in those intensive games such Crysis 2.
If I have to make an average of what I see with various games Ill say that it's around 70-75c.

I've just blown the fans three days ago althought my laptop is just one month old.

After repaste with MX-4 (GPU and CPU) and cutted a little the foams blocking the airvent, my temps are under furmark 92/93 over 30 minutes with clock in 775/1550/1500.
I think I cant lower temp more than this.
Way to far than the temperatures like 70c under load like the people here are telling.
