I got my Asus G53SW back from the 3rd RMA and Asus sent me a new one. However the laptop will not boot up when I connect the HDMI cable. The laptop works completely fine without the HDMI cable connected. I disconnect the dvd burner and HD and it will do the same. Anyone has the same issue?

It works fine after I booted into windows. I can get pictures out from the HDMI port, it just won't boot up with HDMI connected. The only way to make it work is that I unplug the HDMI cable, boot into windows and plug the cable back in.

the HDMI port is software controlled so commonly it will show the asus logo and the windows logo boot screen on your laptop then the blue log on screen in the external screen, if not try reinstall the nvidia driver (a clean one)

Thanks alot for your help. The thing is that I cannot even get into the bios. The laptop will stuck dead if I connect the HDMI cable or VGA cable. I tried the VGA cable too and it won't boot also.

Take out the HDMI cable, and boot to POST, and hit F2. Last tab, and Reset to Defaults.

I have had 4 Asus lappies here, and none had issues with HDMI connected at boot. I wonder if your cable is somehow odd.
