Hi, i am looking to buy an Asus ROG Gaming laptop and i am stuck between these two laptops, i am not exactly sure what is the main differences between the two since i can put the same amount of hardware (That Gentechpc will allow me to customize) into the two laptops, at this point i just want to know what is the main difference between them like, which one is newer? which one has a better Motherboard? which one has more features (If they even have any varying features)

Here is the specs that i will be giving both Laptops and how much they will cost...

    Asus G53SW-A1

-15.6" 16:9 1920X1080 Full HD LED backlight (glossy)
    -HDMI 1.4, 60Hz/120Hz output 1080P, 3D Ready
    -nVidia GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GB GDDR5, DX11
    -2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2630QM, 2.0-2.8GHz,32nm, 6MB, 45W
    -Stock OEM Thermal Compound
    -12GB DDR3 1333 Dual-Channel (2G X 2 + 4GB x 2) ( This is a Free upgrade from the 8GB ram that it comes standard in)
-320GB Seagate Momentus XT 7200RPM 32MB, 4GB SSD Hybrid Drive, SATA II 3Gb/s
-Secondary Hard Drive Space - NONE (I will be buying a 500GB HDD at a later date)
    -8X DVDRW DL Super Multi
    -802.11 Wireless a/b/g/n + Bluetooth Combo Card
    -Built-in 2.0 MP Webcam
    -Standard Bright Whilte Keyboard Backlit
-Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Pre-installed

    Overall Price - $1494.01

    Asus G53SW-XR1
-15.6" 16:9 1920X1080 Full HD LED backlight (glossy) (According to the Asus Support line, the XR1 does not come with the LED back-Lit screen, but carriers that sell this laptop has this as a setting)
    -HDMI 1.4, 60Hz/120Hz output 1080P, 3D Ready
    -nVidia GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GB GDDR5, DX11
    -2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2630QM, 2.0-2.8GHz,32nm, 6MB, 45W
    -Stock OEM Thermal Compound
    -8GB DDR3 1333 Dual-Channel (2G X 4) ( This is a Free upgrade from the 6GB ram that it comes standard in)
-320GB Seagate Momentus XT 7200RPM 32MB, 4GB SSD Hybrid Drive, SATA II 3Gb/s
-Secondary Hard Drive Space - NONE (I will be buying a 500GB HDD at a later date)
    -8X DVDRW DL Super Multi
    -802.11 Wireless a/b/g/n + Bluetooth Combo Card
    -Built-in 2.0 MP Webcam
    -Standard Bright Whilte Keyboard Backlit
-Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Pre-installed

    Overall Price for Asus 53SW-XR1 - $1358.00

So as you can see, there is no major differences between the machines except maybe the amount of RAM it comes standard in.

(Also to add I am really pushing to get an Asus ROG because of its design, cooling, one touch OC, and because i have heard only good things about Asus and ROG, but if you can persuade me to buy another laptop that is better than these two and being cheaper/same price at the same time pls dont hesitate to try =) )

G53SW doesn't have one touch OC.

Also, the price of the G53SW-A1 seems high. I got one for about 100 dollars less a month ago.

GenTech PC - Asus ROG G53SW-A1 15.6 inch Gaming notebook
From the description i was under the impression that ALL ROG laptops has one touch (Click) OC.

I just got done calling the Asus support and they say that the G53SW-XR1 is actually a newer model but it does not have the back-lit LED screen, which is odd because on all the websites that i go to it says that it does come with the LED back-lit, does anyone here own the XR1 and can they verify if it does, i have also sent msgs to Xotic PC to try and figure out if this is true, so only time will tell now =)

    I am looking g53sw-xr1,too
I think it really good, I read on xoticpc, it have OC through Turbo Boost.
    I saw g53sw-xr1 on 2020pc, it's price is 1141.47$ so cheap
but it make me worry. I don't know why there sell cheaper than xoticpc. but I like xoticpc more

I moved my post here because i thought it might get more replies (Which it did)

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-reviews-owners-lounges/570676-asus-g53sw-owners-lounge-73.html

And Dkillone actually got me interested on the G53SW-XN1, he also stated that the G53 laptops in fact does NOT have the one touch OC like the carrier websites such as xoticpc and gentechpc would lead you to believe.

I am more inclined to believe these people because they actually own these laptops and have had actual experiences with them , plus if you look at the description and pictures between all of the G series laptops, it seems that the descriptions and pictures are just recycled through each website including the carrier websites = )

    Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G53SW-XN1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M

It is ridiculously cheaper than the G53SW-A1 and the G53SW-XR1 leaving me room to buy other items such as the Seagate Momentous XT Hybrid HD which i was planning on getting at a later date.

The Sandybridge models do not have the TwinTurbo feature... because they don't need them :) The 2630QM performs on par with a desktop i7 950 @ stock. You can still overclock the GPU using the proper utilities.

Uhm, all the LCD panels Asus uses on the G73 and later have been LED LCD.
