    1. For those who have been around a while looking at Asus laptops. What are the chances of a better discount coming out after the $100 MIR expires at the end of this month? I'm going to buy it this month or in the next and was curious.

    2. Also will the NewEgg version have the same capability and software to overclock it?

    3. I called and was told by a reseller that the newegg versions might not have all the same software to make it simple to overclock the computer. He told me that when I was trying to see if they could offer me a similar deal, or even $100 more on basically the same laptop. I'd rather pay a little more and get it from a reputable reseller. It was basically a G53SW-XR1 with the HDD updated to the 500GB 7200 rpm. It's not that I don't believe him, I'm just verifying.

at the time I bought it it was on sale for $1199 so at the current price with the $100 rebate its quite a good deal IMO

Yes you can overclock it just fine with software easily downloadable on the interweb.

Could you care to list that reputable reseller of yours because the stock XN1 already come with a 500GB Seagate 7200RPM HDD and it sounds like he was trying to get more from you.

The XR1 model they were selling had a 640 GB 5400 rpm drive, IF I upgraded it to the 500 GB like the XN-1 then the price would have been $150 more than the XN-1. Sorry if I was unclear.

I won't say who because I'm not sure if he was being honest or not and I'd rather not put undue blame on any seller without absolute faith in the fact that they were not being up front.

I'm not sure if you noticed but the letter A is not the same as the letter N. XN1 =\= XA1. Plus there's a $100 rebate for Newegg's XN1 so the actual cost is $939.99 if you apply for the rebate. I could buy 16GB of DDR3 1333 RAM from Newegg.com with $100. ;D
