I just got the g55vw today and i'm having trouble with the ac adapter or power cord. Basically the issue is that the ac adapter will work for a few minutes then will shut off.

What is happening is that the green light on the ac adapter will light on when plug in the outlet and then it will turn off after few to several minutes regardless if i plug the ac adapter in the laptop or not. If i plug it in the laptop, it will show the orange charging light and the plug icon on the windows icons n the lower right corner so i know it is working but then after several minutes, the ac adapter will shut off then it wil revert the laptop back to using the battery and the plug icon turns into a battery only icon.

I also tried using different outlets around the house and it's the same issue with the g55 ac adapter but my other appliances works fine on those same outlets.

I also tried plugging the ac adapter by itself in all outlets and it lights up green to signal me that it is working then a few minutes later it shuts off and when i try to unplug and replug, it no longer lights green and i have to wait several minutes until the ac adapter lights up green again. I think this rules out the possibility of having issues with the laptop itself right?

Can anyone pls help me with this issue if possible? Thanks

Do you notice if the AC adapter get very hot when it fails? I would request a replacement adapter, it sure sounds like the one you have is faulty.
I think you are correct it does not sound like an issue with the laptop... good job troubleshooting!

It doesn't get very hot and you don't hear a sound unless you put your ear next to it you could hear a crackling static buzzing sound.

Basically here is the 1st scenario when i was troubleshooting testing it, this is without plugging it in the laptop, just plugging it in in the outlet, it will light up green to let me know it turns on, then after about within 10-30 minutes, the green light will turn off and when i unplug and replug it no longer lits up green and i have to wait a few minutes to make it light up again.

2nd scenario, ac adapter plugged in the outlet and to the laptop, it will show the orange light that it is plug in and the battery cord icon on windows shows up and it is charging, then several minutes usually within 10-30 minutes, the plugged in charging icon disappears and a message pops up on the screen telling me that it is now running on battery power and the green light on the adapter also disappears.

It doesn't matter if it gets hot, if the led on the adapter goes out then something is defective with that adapter. If it's brand new just bring everything back and get a replacement, if you can i'd just get the adapter but who knows what the return policy includes.
