A lot of Asus "Refurbs" aren't refurbished at all. Basically all they do is see if they turn on and then that's good enough for them. I have a friend who works as a 3rd party refurbisher for TD here in Canada, so I get to hear all the horror stories.

Try updating the bios, VGA bios and ec firmware (if there are more current versions.) Also, try updating vga drivers to see if it helps with the flicker.

If the above doesn't work, then obviously have issues with the laptop and it has a 90 day warranty, so I would make good use of it. Call the company you purchased it from and get an RMA going.

    1) Find your specific model of laptop on the asus website.
    2) Download the bios that corresponds with that model (Yours is 208 I think)
    3) Extract the bios file from the zip file
    4) Put the extracted file on a usb drive
    5) restart the laptop
    6) Enter the bios by either pressing F2 or ESC key at the bios splash screen
    7) Look for Asus EZ flash and open the program
    8) look for the bios file on the usb drive
    9) program
    10) restart

Thanks Nakano  that helped with the Bios update but it has not solved the issues i am having :(

Again if any1 knows why it keeps switching between AC an Battery power whilst charging, i figured that it cant be a adapter problem becuz once it is fully charged its fine but only when it is charging it happens

I bought it from fleebay from a seller in the states who sells refurbished laptops for a non-profit organization an i feel bad sending it back if only i can find a solution to flicker in games an the charging problem

    Thanks

Do you get the same flicker with the battery out? It could be that the charging circuit is bad. In that case you could charge the battery when the computer is off.

I had exactly the same problem !

I changed my power adaptor with a friend of mine and everything is ok now, newegg putted a bull adaptor power supply of 3.4a(60w), my friend adaptor has 4.7A (90w) - but is perfect stable...(exceptions in overclocking my gts360 - i can't go more than 620mhz on gpu).

Right now i'm buing a second hand adaptor for 120w (6.3A).

    Good luck :)

I have the exact same problems with my asus g60jx. The power issue and the framing (flickering) screen when I play games. I did solve the power issue though. Turns out after some research I realized that I was given the wrong ac adapter when I bought my laptop. The adapter I got was 19v, 3.42A. What I should have been given was 19v, 6.32A. After pointing this out to the store they sent me a replacement and I have never had the flashing AC power to battery power problem again. Still tying to solve the video problem though.

Ok, I did some checking on this site and others for a solution on the screen problem. First I thought it was graphics card that was overheating since this laptop gets pretty hot. But the flickering would start early into a game before the temperature got high. Then I found a thread in the forum that SOLVED my flickering. There is driver called the ATK ACPI UTILITY driver that I found under system devices in device manager. Its from ASUS and apparently it was the source of the flickering problem. Anyway I removed it and no more flickering. Hope it works for you.
