Hey guys this is my first post in the notebookreview and I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.
To start off here are the specs of my computer:
ASUS G60JX RBBX05 Refurbished Notebook PC - Intel Core i5 430M 2.26GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, 16 WXGA, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit at TigerDirect.com
I think 802.11b/g/n Wireless Networking means that I can connect to wireless networks on N speed without needing an external adaptor...
The I'm having is that I'm having trouble connecting my laptop to my wireless router on the N connection. My wireless router, Linksys's WRT310N, only connects to the laptop on a G connection, which is much slower.
Any leads on how to address this? Thanks

If you're using encryption make sure it's WPA2 and not TKIP or WEP.

You may also want to log into the router and verify that the router is transmitting a wireless N signal. I have also seen some routers that will have different SSID's for b/g and N. Maybe just some things to check.
Also heed ALLurGroceries and verify the type of encryption if any being used. -
I was searching for a topic all morning that was pertaining to this. Now I know its a Month and 4 days old, but I felt like starting the same topic with the same problem someone would have told me to use the search function.
Anywho.
To the problem. I have a Belkin Wireless N Router and I was able to connect at N speeds with my 50vm-X1. Now I got my G60JX-Rbbx05 and im trying to connect it to the exact same router. Now im only getting 150mbps while I was getting 300mbps with my X1. Im using WPA2 and everything that you guys have recommended. Nothing is working.
Now last night I was playing online and my PING was unbelievable. Im wondering if push comes to shove can I take my old wireless card out of my X1 and put it in the 60JX? -
Is your N setup on 2.4 or 5 ghz channel? If it's on the 5Ghz, make sure your card supports it. Mine didn't hand I had to buy a Intel Centrino 6300.
If it does, N networks are volitile to lower connections. If you have a Xbox or PS3 with a G card, the network is downgraded to G. This is where dual band comes in to be really handy. -
Okay, Well im willing to spend on an upgrade. Is the Intel 6300 better than the default card?

Yep.

Thanks did my research and found one for 20 odd dollars on Newegg. Going to be a happy camper!

Yeah, it's the cheapest and most useful upgrade for these machines
