*** Hard Disk Drive (HDD) In Secondary SATA Port Is Sometimes Not Recongnized By BIOS or Windows 7.***

I'm trying to add a secondary hard drive to my laptop to use for data storage.

Often times when connecting a hard drive to the second SATA port on the laptop, the BIOS and Operating System refuses to detect the drive connected to the Secondary SATA port that came with the laptop. The laptop would start repeatedly over and over again because the Bios can't detect the Hard Disk Drive. Upon moving the drive to the primary SATA port, the problem no longer occurs.

Could the Secondary SATA Port be Defective? Is there something wrong with the BIOS or does the firmware need to be updated? The HDD works fine on the primary port its the secondary port that is having issues.

    Thank You

Have you tried resetting your BIOS to user defaults?

Yes it could be a bad port... does your primary disk do the same thing?
