Ive got an asus g60vx-rbbx05. A few weeks ago the laptop started freezing at shorter and shorter intervals until it eventually now just turns on but doesnt even boot to the asus manufacturer screen. The screen is jist lit up black with a blinking cursor. I have tried EVERYTHING!! Ive tried booting with the restore cd, unugging everything and holsing power button for minutes, tried getting into bios, took the ram out and switched them thrn put them in one by one, and probably more. I even pulled the hard drive out and tried booting with the restore cd again just to see if the screen would change but nopeeee. Im getting extremely frustrated and getting extremely tired of using my cell phone to type everything!!!! Lol so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Can you get into the BIOS screen, or the Boot Manager?

No i cant get to either. As soon as i press the power button the screen lights up black with a blinking cursor. It makes the regular asus "lightning bolt sound" i guess you could call it, but does not even boot to the asud screen like usualy. What is weird is sometimes the screen lights up but sometimes it doesnt. The hard drive spins up nut the fan for the heatsink doesnt turn on at all. I bought a replacement cpu off ebay today for only $15 so ill give that a whirl. The cpu i bought is 2.26ghz instead of the 2.13 cpu thats in there now. Im praying that this fixes the issue. Like i stated in my first post, the laptop started freezing while in windows doing normal tasks. Each time it froze, it took less and less time to freeze so thats what is making me think the cpu fried. I should be gettong the replacement cpu in the mail next wednesday

I would lean more towards gpu issues since it's so common for the gpu to die. Good luck with the cpu swap.

I was thinking that but out of all the computers and laptops ibe had, ive never once had a gpu failure. Ive burned out a couple cpus but thats all. What's weird is the last day i was double checking everything on the laptop, i had pulled a stick of ram out and started the laptop amd it booted to the main asus screen for the first time since it started freezing. It stayed on the main screen for a split second then restarted itself to the same ole black screen with a blinking cursor. When it booted up normal for a split second the fan on the heatsink actually started spinning too. I put each stick of ram in each slot one by one then switched them to see if the ram was the issue. But of course it wasnt. Once i insall the replacement cpu this week ill post on here to let everyone know how i made out.
