    Hi Guys,
New here, and generally new to pc gaming.(at least in the last 10 years) Going from hotel to hotel living on the road, I got sick of lugging around a 32" tv and two game consoles, so I made the move over to pc games. Couldn't be happier, but discovering this is a whole new ballgame(lots to learn)
Had my Asus G73-A1 for a couple weeks now and am quite pleased. I have not updated my ATI driver....believe it's 8.6, and frankly am hesitant to do so. Every game I throw at it runs great and after reading about countless driver update problems on this site, the ATI site, etc. i figure "if it's not broke, don't fix it"
Do any other g73 owners have any words of wisdom. Am I missing out on any performance by not updating? What are the risks/benefits? Excuse my lack of knowledge, but gotta start somewhere

It depends on the game your playing really. If you do want to update, i suggest you give the 10.1 drivers at asus website a try. Download the drivers, and also download "Driver Sweeper" Uninstall your current drivers, reboot to safe mode, clean out the ati stuff using driver sweeper, reboot again and install the 10.1 drivers. Those drivers are as stable as your current drivers. Games like Bad Company 2 benefit from the newer drivers. Where else games like L4D2 don't.

Thanks all. Good info. Crysis/warhead, stalker COP, oblivion heavily modded, the witcher- settings cranked almost all the way up, run smooth enough for me, and make my consoles games look like I rubbed dirt in my eyes. Think I'll holdfast until I run into a game were I have issues. Great site btw.

Stupid iPhone. Sorry-premature posting. "....except updated to the new 10.8. Everything is stable and am suprised to see measurable performance increases in most of my games library, and in some cases visual fidelity has increased-e.g. Sins of a solar empire, my ships/planets zoomed in now have detail and texture never visable before. Crysis no longer has multi colored graphic anomalies in the last boss battle. Sweet
