Awesome!! Just took bad that there wasnt a way to unlock the multipliers on the i7 720 to OC that beyond the turbo feature... :(

disabled at a hardware level so you will never do that

Some one needs to grab the PLL and then Pay some one to write the software to overclock it

ugh don't get me started about Aion, i used to play it on my desktop.
quad core 2.6 ghz, 8800 ultras in SLi,had everything on max setting, not a single lap, or frame drop even in biggest battles.

But the game itself is jsut terrible, i wasted 17 million trying to hit expert armorsmith only to have it fail on my 5 times. i quit that game after 1 month.

Korean MMOs have a lot to do with Asian culture. Gambling is a major part of their culture and history and it's still evident in their games. Much of gear improvements in any MMO developed in China, Japan and Korea are based on chance, gambling. Which is a shame because MMOs are time consuming enough without having to waste time trying to upgrade based on chance.

Also chance is a great game mechanic to charge extra to increase your chances through item malls and other bs.

Strangely I found Asian MMOs are more about the individual. Maybe this has to do with so much of their lives are about the greater good of society this is a chance to be unique? I am not sure. But much of this chance I believe is also a way to differentiate characters from another. Games like WoW where gear upgrade is determined and there is no difference between one shadow priest that has completed Ulduar from the next. Same tier gear, same enchantments, same gear stats etc. More about team work than the individual.

But I like some Korean MMOs. Where Aion failed is end-game and reason. There is no reason to play Aion. The faction war is mindless. There is no given reason to fight the opposition,. As a player immersed into a world I was not compelled to participate in the conflict. Even a simple game like Silkroad Online had a compelling reason to be involved in the triangular conflict.

That was my take on Aion.

Indeed, a most profound conclusion. I also believe you are correct. I spent the entire year of 1996 in Iwakuni, Japan. I was amazed at their culture, as well as their lack of interest in personal rewards. Many would not think of trying to stand out amongst the crowd. Where U.S. workers want to be rewarded for good work, Japanese workers want to see their company rewarded or recognized. Hell, the most popular car color there is white! People there just don't want to stand out.

In business, it's not about the individual. Rather, it's about "what can I do to help facilitate the company's growth?" I loved living there, and want to go back some day. The people were amazing, and traveling to Hiroshima was a very sobering experience. Still, my most prized memory there was standing in line with a bunch of cool Japanese kids waiting to pick up the new Nintendo 64 with Mario 64! I hooked that thing up to my TV, had no idea what all that japanese writing meant, but I played the hell out of Mario! Good times, good times.

What's the difference between the A1 and A2 models?
Man this laptop is really, really good.
Lost track of it since it's a little bigger than I would like but after seeing these benchmark numbers it has me drooling again.
Any issues with the temps when adding a 55W i7-920XM?
How well does it handle heat under full load?

I tried it and it didn't work. I don't know if there is a config file for it to add the 5870. Wasn't worth investigating since I mostly do vbios flashing.

A1= "The Unicorn Model" - Only been heard of and never seen. It comes with a Blue-Ray drive. ;) Everything else is the same.

Take a look at this POST for temps under load.

BTW, for anyone following some of the issues I've been having it all seems cleared up after replacing some of my ram.

Fantastic Drake! I guess I really need to do a fresh install on my machine since I seem to be having some residual BS going on from the G51 swap. Bah!

The weird thing is that the only thing that crashes it Firefox, which is probably the reason I am putting off reloading.

If they made a smaller version of that G73 I would get it.

Since they used a smaller keyboard and have some wasted space internally they could have gone down to a 16.3" size.

Unbelievable that you were able to hit 20k on the cpu score with the G73! Vicious needs to get all over this.

That AlienWare vantage score is fantastic.

Just finished doing a fresh install. Everything is running so much better. I tried the google chrome browser that someone suggested just out of curiosity and I actually like it. Very small footprint and very fast. Even faster than FF.

I hear you. I figured since I was going with a fresh start, I would give it a try. It's very utilitarian. Even more so than firefox. I like it though; it has a very light footprint.

I still prefer FireFox. Only because I find FireFox easier to use with the menu bar rather than Chromes thingys on the left where it's hard to access with their pull down menus etc.

As for speed it's debatable. I've seen stats and graphs favoring both.

    Opera ftw!

(and chrome is really ram hungry, having a lot of tabs open on 1gb ram just kills it :) (G73 probably wont suffer from it with 8gb :)

Yeah there isn't much info out there on it. Which i5 is it?

As far as performance goes it will depend greatly on the game itself. Normally running at a lower resolution will give you better performance but some will argue it won't look as nice. In the end both systems are running the ATI 5870 so gaming will be similar.

If it does come with an Arrandale processor you may have the benefit of using switchable graphics to save battery life when not gaming. That would be a huge plus to some. The I7-720QM does not have it.

Its the i5 430m not the best i5. Battery life is not important for me cuz i use it as DRM. Atm i have a hp 9200 with a 20" screen, 1650x1050 resolution and a nvidia 8800GTS i pretty like the resolution just the card is getting to slow soon, i just look for a silent notebook with good perfomance, the silence is most important cuz the laptop is near the sleeping room and my wife has good ears :D .

The i5-540 in my Envy consistently scored about 8k CPU in vantage.

Thats going to be a no on this system. With warranty concerns and then the amount of work it entails.

95% of people should NEVER even try to remove the GPU or CPU on this system even with a video helping.

    It isn't that hard, moo.

But the nice, yellow sticker on the CPU heatsink that says "WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED OR BROKEN" should make someone think twice.
