    Hello,
This is my first post.. Anyways, I just bought a g73-rbbx05 model from best buy. I have been reading some of the posts here, and decided I want to look at temperatures of the GPU and CPU. So, I downloaded CPUID's HWmonitor and ran it.

Some of the screenshots I have seen of HWmonitor has temp for CPU, GPU, and Fan speeds, and I guess that's what the program is supposed to show, right? But when I turn on HWmonitor on my laptop, It only has:

    ACPI -Temperatures
    Intel Core i7 720QM - Temperatures
    ST950042 0AS - Temperatures
    Battery - Voltages, Capacities, Levels.

I'm freaking out because I have noticed noticeably hotter air blowing on the right fan (probably just overreacting, but i tend to do that on my expensive toys...) and I would like to see the temp readings!

I just got this a few days ago, and is graphic card not being read a reason to return it?
Please help how I can get these readings to show up on the HWmonitor!

    Thank you very much!!

-P.S. mine was an open box item and i believe the geek squad ran MRI or sth

GPU-z will show the temperature readings on the sensors tab even if nothing else will. Sometimes HWMonitor and HWInfo32 can have some problems depending on which driver youre using.

Its high compared to other laptops running the same GPU, but similar to what other G73JH users are getting on stock paste. After a repaste i idle at 56C.
The problem is you are probably running around the 100C range at full load considering your idle temperatures (from my expirience since i was idling at same temperatures when i got mine) which is not "healthy" for your GPU long term.

Thank you very much everyone for the answers.
I'm new to this gaming laptop.. so please bear with me here, but
what does it mean by "not healthy in the long term?" I bought this laptop because my previous laptop stopped working after 5 years. I play games (ava) about 3 to 4 hours daily.. does this mean this laptop will last me less??
