I booted up speccy to look at my temps after repasting and saw this
    4,00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 660MHz (9-9-9-24)
first of all its stock RAM but at 660 mhz only? also single channel?can that be changed or is it, as i read on the internet a couple of times, just not possible for the mobo?

That would depend on if you have 1 4GB stick, if you have 2 2GB stick and there in the correct slots you would have 660 X 2 = 1320MHz

Pretty much all programs report it at half speed. You want to double that for DDR so yours is correct. I cant remember if the BIOS in these models report it but you can double check there.

DDR stands for double data rate, each clock two bits of information are transmitted so for a clock of 660mhz twice that is transmitted equalling a data rate of 1320mhz.

Alright, thanks guys for the answers. I guess the ram actually works in dual channel then? its just the program not displaying it right

No, you have a single 4gb stick of 660mhz (1320 DDR) the original responder was confused. You would need to add another matched 4gb stick to run dual channel.

You can confirm with cpu - z.

Well that's your problem, they should be side by side.

side by side? i remember the numbering of the RAM slots on the g73jh being 1,3and4 from the bottom and behind the keyboard being 2, with 1,2 supposedly being dual channel and 3,4...can anyone confirm that ?

I believe that is right, you will need to move one of the sticks to the paired slot that is one of the 3 on the side you can access. (Just like on Desktop boards, usually there are 2 colors for channel A and B and its always an even number (except on the X58 which would use 3 because Triple Channel.)

The problem is it may be numbered coming from the motherboard out, or from the outside in. I would say move it a slot and check and see if it changes, rinse, repeat till it does.

Also HWinfo32 is good at seeing accurate system specs and ports and will let you see what dimm slots are occupied as you move it around under the device tree.

i think it's slots 1 and 3, 2 and 4 or you use all 3 accessible slot unless you have 4 sticks in which case you use all 4 slots.

allright, since slot 4 is supposedly the one behind the keyboard, im going to stick the ram in slot 1 into slot 2 and look if anything has changed...

edit: seems like the ram stick doesn't want to go in another slot, like something is blocking it.
bigger problem though, i noticed that the laptop monitor isnt working, neither is it popping up in the screen options in the CCC...
i opened it to clean the fans, followed the repasting guide provided here and uhm welp. i think iconnected everything right though

The slots will be in two pairs.

Each pair of slots is matched to give dual channel.

    slots 1 and 2 are logically 1 and 3 (channel a1 and channel b1) while slots 3 and 4 are logically 2 and 4 (channel a2 and channel b2)

yeah well i can't seem to fit the ram stick into any other slot, nothing in it that could block it but it doesn't want to go in as seemingly as it does with the one it was in. didn't want to put too much pressure on it so i left it there.
yet the problem with the monitor still resides. might have somehow not plugged the lcd cable back in correctly or so, cause got a second monitor hooked up to the hdmi port, works flawlessly.
not even Post on the laptops screen hm

You do insert it at 45 degrees, make sure it is seated and then push it flat right?

jup, but the stick doesn't want to get seated. pops into the 1st slot easily, the other 2 its like i'd have to use force, might look at it later today, gotta take it apart again cause of the not working screen..
