Hi, first time poster... long time lurker.

I just installed a Patriot Inferno 120 GB SSD in my G73. I did a clean install of Windows 7 and only installed the necessary drivers.

I also moved the page file from the SSD to the secondary drive. I enabled Write Caching. Adjusted System Variables and Disabled the Indexing Service on the drive.

Now, when running ATTO I am maxing out at 247 MB/s for my Write Speed. It will hit the same number about 5 times in a row. It seems like I might be hitting a cap or something isn't configured exactly right since I have seen some benchmarks hit higher numbers (around 256, advertised is 275). My reads are hitting 280 MB/s only 5 MB/s under advertised so I am pretty happy but I still have seen them hit higher.

Is there anything I might be overlooking to bring my speeds up a bit? I know it is really close and it is performing well but I just want to make sure I have done everything possible to get the best performance from this drive.

    Thanks!

heh first time poster, long time lurker here too :)

can you try CrystalDiskMark and let me know results, i'm specifically wanting to look at the 4k results.

what model of the G73 are you running, JH(ati) or JW(nvidia)?

apparently theres a issue with the PM55(JH) and HM55(JW) intel chipsets that cause the readings of SSDs to be lower than expected, mainly in the 4k results CrystalDiskMark reports, there's a crude registry fix that keeps the CPU from idling to somewhat get the performance back.

More info on the subject here.

i would say that is the usual write and read you would get from a SSD. did you try the new RST drivers and see if your write gets any better? let us know

The write speed in ATTO went up by 1 to 248 MB/s. Read stayed the same.

    Crystal Disk Mark...

    Seq: Read 201 - Write 135
    512K: Read 184 - Write 131
    4K: Read 12 - Write 21
    4K QD32: Read 129 - Write 59
