Hello I recently encountered this problem(as seen on in this thread, but there was no solution) after like 30min - 1 hour the laptop shuts itself down.

I did some research and it looks to be a temperature issue, the cpus rarely go past 65 *C and the GPU stays at about 85 *C during gameplay. Are those temps causing the issue? Or could it be the game I'm playing(X-Men Origins Wolverine)? Any other causes other then the game and the temps?

Ive played many games on the laptop for hours and its never done this before...

    any help?
    Thanks in Advanced!!

So you have the JH or JW? From what I know ATI/AMD will shutdown, but Nvidia will throttle first.

Either way, your temps are fine, me and a few others with the "hotter" running cards operate often at those temps while gaming, for even long periods of time, and have no problems.

Could be a power issue, as Ive been having recently. Your battery, adapter, and port all OK?

    Hey,
    thanks for the reply,
Ive got the ASUS G73JH the battery and power seem to be running well.

After giving the laptop some rest I'm going to try another game, hopefully its a problem with software not hardware

You did get the new vBios right? Your GPU might be crashing if you're on the older vBios and newer drivers, you should get a GSOD in that case though.

Im running everything on stock, I had a bad experience when updating to the newer gfx driver, Battlefield BC2 would lock up so I rolled back.

    I haven't seen the GSOD yet :)

The vBios update slipped my mind, as tijo said. Id recommend updating that first, and see if the problem persists. The problem you had with the gfx driver update was likely because of the stock/old vbios.

thanks for all the help, i think the problem is with Xmen Origins (time to send Activision some emails :D), I tried to recreate the problem while playing Just Cause 2 and it was stable. I should prob update the vBios. Thanks for the help!

You said everything on stock? When I had everything on stock it was stable, but updating drivers would screw it. I don't think it has someting to do with the vBios and drivers, but even if it's not the problem, you should update it :)
