Ok so after having numerous GSOD and what not with 10.6, 10.6 drivers I reverted back to stock drivers. Seriously the best decision. Still get to play dirt 2, gta eflc, bf bc2 with nice frame rate 30-70fps depending on game and content. But it is stable and havnt run into any issues.

Was getting GSOD on other drivers while OCing and randomly during play or videos.

If you are getting the same issue. Seriously revert back to stock, and wait for a proper fix from ASUS.

All the best with anyone tht has the same issues.

Yeah. Never got a GDOD ever on this laptop and have been updating drivers as they release. Installed the 10.6 and they work best in my opinion.

If your getting GDOD's then its a hardware issue and you need to RMA. No amount of tweaking of drivers or video bioses will help.

Like I said, Ive used every driver since the laptop came out and never once got a GSOD. This is hardware peeps, not software.

So, if someone is getting GSOD with updated drivers, but their video performance is flawless and stable with stock, official Asus drivers, then it's a hardware issue?

Yes, pretty much. There are people who own this laptop, such as myself, who have no issue using the new ATI drivers (I have used 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6). So obviously, since this is the case, people who are experiencing issues with new drivers have faulty hardware. 40nm chips have a high failure rate, so it is normal to have a handful of faulty units in a production set.

I think the asus drivers put more voltage through the cards, and the ATI drivers don't - so the GSOD cards can be fixed with a vBios update. Check the forums here for the solution.

I dont think that its a hardware issue if you are getting gsod's.

Im pretty sure it has something to do with the vbios and updating drivers. Yeah you may not have any problems, you are one of the lucky ones. But a lot of people on here do, and it has been after updating to 10.? drivers.

Like I said in my original post. I have been using 10.5 and 10.6 since I got the laptop. And while it played alright for like the first week, eventually I got the GSOD.

Since reverting back to stock, I havnt received any problems what so ever.

Ill wait for something official from asus if in fact it is a hardware problem.
