A few months ago my G73 fell of a 3 feet height.

Soon after it ran normally but in the day next it wasnt working anymore.

I took it to an assistance here in Brazil and they told me that the BGA was loose and the laptop would need a new video card.

I do not know if it´s possible to exchange the video card for another one (same model), and thats why i´m asking you guys a help with this answer. I have a BB version with a GTX460M 1GB.

Also i cannot find parts here in Brazil and Asus Global assistance do not cover Brazil (Why they call it Global anyway....).

Does anyone know a store that sells this kind of video card and ships it to Brazil??

My hope is dying over here because i think that my problem cannot be solved and i´m gonna have to sell the laptop in parts.

Thank you guys and sorry for any language mistake.

Does the hard drive work? What happens when you try to turn it on?

Hi, you can take a look at this one. This one is 1.5GB and is for G73JW but it should be compatible with the G73SW, it's an ASUS card. They do ship to Brazil through EMS or DHL.

    Aliexpress.com : Buy GTX460M GTX 460M N11E GS A1 DDR5 1.5GB MXM B 3.0 VGA Video Card for ASUS G73JW G73 G72GX G74GX G53 G53SX G53JW G60 notebook from Reliable G73JW suppliers on Nicole Kyong's store

The HD works. The lights turns on, but the screen remains black. Not even a blink.

I also hear a low sound when i turn it on, but i do not know how to describe it properly.

    WOW! Thank you!!..

I´m going to take a look to see if it works.

How did you find it. I tried almost everything.. LOL

I think the GPU is soldered into the mobo on the SW models.

Nope, SW has one ugly 460m board, but it's replaceable. Completely custom PCB though.

    ---------

Caso deseje, Me add no MSN, que podemos COnversar.

Just a head up that we usually need a translation if you're gonna post something of that length in another language. Otherwise, if no one can understand it we'll have to assume it can be malicious, i really don't think it's the case here though, and we'll have to remove it. We can't really make exceptions for something of this length.

    Rule of interest:
I think i got the gist of the post, but i can't really be sure since i don't speak portuguese.

You can also take discussions in your native language to pms if you don't feel like translating although in this case it's not possible yet.

    hello, I understand your concern.
But if you have questions about the content of my response, you have the option to use the Google translator.

I do not speak English, I use the Google translator, but as the friend of Doubt in Brazil was, I wanted to facilitate writing in My Language.

Anyway, thanks for the Information, I will not over commit this error.

through the Questions, I'm putting my answer below translated into English.

"Murilo, If you like, I can try to help you, I am from RJ, Where you is? I have much experience with this model, already dismantled for Upgrades Including Dozens of video card. Assistance'm Not, I most like HOBBY, More Can you believe that Orient better, Since you're lost.
Technical assistance in BRAZIL is very precarious, even more for a notebook as the Model Prayer.
    Good luck "

Don't worry about it, like i said, i got the gist of it. Removed your e-mail in the translation (just in case) so you don't get bothered. ;)

It's true that google translator is there, but sometimes it's rather inadequate. I'm fine with a summary of what you said too instead of an exact translation. The rule is there as a courtesy for our english only members and this is en english forum too afterall. Sometimes good info might get lost because it's not in english. ;)

I understand you wanting to facilitate conversation in your own language, i did the same a few times in french here and on other forums as well for the same reasons.

    They usually accept Paypal too.

Actually any MXM type B GTX 460M will probably work on the SW, Asus bios only reads the vendor ID (10DE) and device ID(0DD1), nothing more.

    Thanks for the help guys.

But as always, i have another doubt.

    My G73 is a Best Buy model with a 1GB RAM GTX460M.

    Can i replace the 1GB GTX460 for a 1.5GB GTX460 ??

I tried to find an answer but could not find one.

    Thanks again!
