    Hi just wondering what settings you guy use with your G73 playing BFBC2? And the settings.ini , if you could copy and paste yours to get best gameplay.

    What is your value for FOV?

    Thanx awaiting your replies :)

    My gameplay is smooth, nothing to complain about with 10.4 drivers. BUT sometimes, I can't view very far away building walls - the walls will be "invisible" making it able for me to see enemys that are actually BEHIND the wall! lol

    This is my own personal settings.ini file:

    [WindowSettings]
    Width=1680
    Height=1050
    Fullscreen=true
    RefreshRate=60
    VSync=false
    [Sound]
    Quality=low
    VoipEnable=true
    SpeakerCount=0
    [Graphics]
    Effects=low
    Soldiers=low
    Vehicles=low
    Overgrowth=low
    Undergrowth=low
    StaticObjects=low
    Terrain=low
    Shadows=low
    Bloom=false
    HSAO=false
    MSAA=0

    MainQuality=custom
    Texture=low
    DxVersion=auto

    Just wondering why a 16:10 ratio on a 16:9 screen, wouldn't 1600x900 be better for it to at least sustain the screen ratio?

    Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have a BFBC2 folder or file in my documents folder.

    Any other suggestions, please.

    Open Explorer in the root and do a search for settings.ini as the keyword. I don't have BFBC2 installed and the 6 that were found were clearly for something else. Perhaps you can find it that way.

    Yeah, I was wondering the same myself. I don't even recall seeing that resolution as an option when I play. I'll have to take another look.

    My settings:
    1600x900
    Everything on Medium
    1xmsaa
    1xaa
    vsync off
    hsao off

    I prefer more FPS than image quality as you can see.

    Running A2 here:

    Forced DX9
    OCed to 800/1100
    1920x1080
    No AA
    low AF
    everything else maxed
    no HBAO
    no Bloom (cause it makes it hard to see)

    FOV:90

    Edit: running 10.4

    By far the best drivers are the stock 9.12. I have tried every beta out there including the 10.6 alpha and they all get my temps up to 90c while the stock drivers never go above 80c. With all the beta drivers and the 10.4 official I get GSOD, can happen in 1 min or 1 hour but I get them.

    With that said I run a 37" westinhouse via HDMI with all settings on high except turnning down AA to 1 and AF 1... Will post my settings.ini later on when I get home.

    When I lower the resolution, the game no longer runs in full screen, has black bars on the sides. How do I make it run full screen?

    Thanks

    Hey megabyte, it is marcustaz same as here... And was great having you stop by and frag with us!

    BTW: my settings.ini are as follows:

    [WindowSettings]
    Width=1920
    Height=1080
    Fullscreen=true
    RefreshRate=60
    VSync=false
    [Sound]
    Quality=high
    VoipEnable=true
    SpeakerCount=0
    [Graphics]
    Effects=medium
    Soldiers=medium
    Vehicles=medium
    Overgrowth=medium
    Undergrowth=medium
    StaticObjects=medium
    Terrain=medium
    Shadows=medium
    Bloom=true
    HSAO=false
    MSAA=0
    Water=medium
    MainQuality=custom
    Texture=high
    DxVersion=auto
    Aniso=1
    Detail=medium
    RenderAheadLimit=2
    Fov=55

    I tweaked the settings.ini again tonight and the book ran without issue... I just wish I did not get the GSOD with the 10.4 drivers cause the load time on 9.12 is painful... Funny how some, like you have no issues.. Wonder if it is GPU or GDDR5 problems but something tells me it is the latter...

    Hey Marcus, lol yeah it was fun, Il see you again same time today :)
    I might be wrong, but since I have no issues (yet!) I thought that UK's got different model. I have the Asus G73JH-TZ008V , and I noticed that most US G73 models has an X somewhere in the name.

    Indeed, it was fun m8, see you around 9 pm ish est..

    And yes I have the X3 model from Tiger Direct... I would be nice if we could easily see the mem chips on the video card to see if they are the same manufacture etc... but I am not about to rip mine apart. I may just ask TG for an exchange before my 30 days and see if I get one that will run the 10.4.

    If you do not mind, go to system properties and run the Windows Experiance Assement tool and see if it GSODs... This is something that others like myself can get it to trigger the problem. I am curious if yours does. However, if you do not want to I understand. :D

    Is that where you get your score? Mine is 5.9 and I ran it with Turbo Boost on and off, both work perfectly, no problems.
    Is there any other way we could check the mem chips eg like with software or something ?

    I know this is off topic, but I'm having problems with 10.4 and the gsod on every game I play. I've tried going back to the original drivers that are on the driver disc, but every time i pull up the cd in explorer it freezes up. How do I get the stock driver installed?

    I tried Everest and GPUZ but I do not think it gives you all the data. Even GPUZ from techpowerup sensors section gives no reading... Seems the card is too new?

    Just as an FYI, I may have found a fix. It requires you to flash your vBIOS with a sager 5870, I am in the process of testing it all out.

    The flash was super easy, and before I couldnt keep windows stable with 10.4 drivers for 5min. After the flash, I've been stable in Furmark, 3dmark06 and pretty much everything.

    So its possible all these probs just stem from the BIOS, however, I am still worried its still a physical defect. Once I have about 24hrs or more of testing, I'll write up a guide on how to do and where to DL the Bios. Surely it would save all the hassles of RMA's.

    I know technically flashing the vBios should void your warranty, but it beats playing roulette with RMA laptops back and forth.

    You should post this up in the VIP section of Asus forums so if by chance an Asus tech reads it they may consider updating the bios for the card...

    Thanks and look forward to your guide. I have flashed many desktop VCs but never a laptop... This should be interesting... ;)

    What happens when your guide draws in people who really shouldn't be doing this for whatever reason, they flash their GPU BIOS and later ASUS releases a special driver version, but entirely based on specific addresses in the original GPU BIOS, what then?

    I know you are trying to be careful, but I would suggest you make it clear that they backup their GPU BIOS just in case and warn people that they may have to put it back. And, if they choose to not heed the warnings, that bricking and other bad things could happen, and if they choose to continue, that it's their problem, not yours.

    Personally I wouldn't do it, but I'm not a gamer.

    Hehe, thats actually exactly how I intend to do it. It's why I want to tell people about it, but for now, not really say how.

    I actually made a nub mistake and didnt backup my original vBIOS first. I am sending mine back on monday, but someone else in another thread flashed his, backing up his original first. So I'm hoping he will send me his and I'll flash back before sending.

    But yeah, I agree 100% with all your points. It's a shame that flashing the vbios seems like the only fix for now though.

    I will be willing to give you my original bios and I have no problem flashing mine to fix a problem that Asus has not addressed. Please PM me with instructions on where to get the Sager Vbios, I looked on their support section and could not find it. I am assuming it was extracted from a full bios update? At any rate let me know...

    Hi all, I might be a little late to the party but I thought I'd pitch in my 2 cents to the pile.

    I have the BB model G73, so I run @ 1600x900 with everything maxed and I get pretty darn good performance. I'll be sure to re-read this thread when I get home to see what kind of tweaks I can make to increase performance, hopefully without sacrificing too much in terms of the pretty stuff :)

    Oh, and if anyone would like to add me, my soldier names are M.Myers and Hussein Mahmouf (yes that is a play on words for you word nerds out there)

    I primarily play Hardcore Rush, high pop.
