    Hi

I have an Asus G73JH. When i bought the notebook (it is used) the LAN port didn't work. I diassembled the nb and check for the cables, the problem was that the LAN connector was not properly connected. Then i reassemble, then LAN work ok, but now with problem on the display.

The screen is flickering from the half to botton like this
    [IMG]

And have yellow marks (in white pixels i see them) like this
    (see attached thumbnail)

When i connect via HDMI the image is clear and no problems, is not the videocard. So i assume that i broke the lcd flex or the lcd display. I don't have spares of these to check where is the problem... any suggestions to the right direction?. This problem was typical from the flex or the lcd display?. In my country is not easy and not cheap to get the replacements... that's why i ask.

    Thanks.

I know the thing is a real pain to disassemble, but you could check if the LVDS cable is properly seated.

You could try to remove the back cover on the vents and then push or pull gently on the LCD cable. If image changes you need to open her up as the cable might not be pluged in all the way.

I dissaembled the notebook again (with a baby is difficult to find the time ;)). Check the connections and apparently are ok. I turn on the notebook dismanteled to check that the cable is not pressed. I discovered that the insulation of the cable is a little break, not a lot, but maybe a sign. I move a little the cover to see the contacts, at first sight, cannot detect broken contacts... i add a picture, but maybe the problem is there. I'll try first to change the cable.

The tape on the connector side is normal. Did you try to turn it on and move the cable or press on the connector ? You might have had a bad connection on one of the pins on the mobo´s side. If the cable indeed is broken then yes that ebay item should work. You might find a cheaper one but it should work.

If you have a multi-meter you could check to make sure the pins are ok.

    Well... you are right.

It didn't discover the faulty piece, but now i see the image ok. I apply pressure on the connection to the motherboard... If i push in the middle the image is ok... i always connected the cable interfase ok, but it seems that the interfase of the cable, or the connector on the motherboard has some issue. The solution was put a rubber to make a little press with the cable interface on the motherboard when the case is closed. And now the image is ok.

If is the motherboard... the really fix is not cheap... if is the cable i will buy another if this happen again.

Thanks to all for the help.

You could always use a hairdryer/heatgun while applying gentle pressure to try and reset the soldering.

Just be VERY gentle , it could be a real pain to fix if you knock it out of position.
