    Hi,

My G73 works with games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Dirt 2, Warthammer 40K, NFS Shift, Fallout 3...

But I always failed to launch Grid and Assassin Creed.

When I launch the game the screen become black and my only solution is to reboot manually.

I though it could be a problem with DX10 but the Heaven, Sanctuary and Tropics demo all work well in DX11, 10, 10.1 and 9...

Do anyone have the same problem and hopefully the solution ?

Folks will need more information in order to assist you.

Info such as, what version ATI drivers, are you using the Creative drivers with Bass Boost enabled and are you doing any over-clocking, etc...

Also dxdiag and msconfig will give you information about what programs are running and whether your drivers are installed properly (or MS approved)

    Details please.

    Cheers,

I have not modify the drivers, so I have the stock ATI drivers from Asus, the Creative Bass boost is not enable and I haven't overclock the notebook.
Dxdiag and msconfig don't show any problems...

Who cares? I mean, neither of these games report graphics problems when pirated ... I'm not encouraging piracy, but I do think that using a crack on a legally owned game is perfectly fine. And it is, in canada. Not so much in the USA... but why even ask?

Because many of these hacked, cracked games are rife with bugs and other anomalies not found in the legit retail version. Granted most of these won't even allow the game to load but still. I wouldn't spend time trying to help troubleshoot someone's hacked version even if they owned the original.

Moot point since the OP's problem is solved.

GRID has a problem with the I7 and Win7 64bit. Look it up on google, something like "GRID multicore crash" or something like that.
Don't know about the other game.

I forget which game it was but when the G73 first came out there was a dude trying to get us to help troubleshoot a game that wouldn't launch. Someone else was familiar with the issue. It was a bug in the game. It had problems with newer Catalyst drivers. The funny thing was that it had been patched months ago but the patch was smart enough to detect cracked exe files so pirates couldn't play the game on newer ATI cards. He got a tongue lashing (keyboard lashing?) for being a pirate. The usual pirate/anti-pirate discussion ensued.

The GPU most likely, and you reached 114C on the core for thermal shutdown. When she restarts, check you ambient temps, and try and feel if the fan stopped on the right side. If it has, give a solid love whack to restart it.

I use PC Wizard 2010 to check the temps and the GPU temp get almost to 100C, but right in that moment I close the MW2 to avoid the shutdown. Some people had recomended me change the thermal compound to the IC Diamond 7, it's a good change?

Sure it is, if you know what you're doing. Otherwise, 100 is fairly common with high ambient temps - if your room is at 30-35 degrees, I'd say it's nothing to worry about. If you're at 26 degrees, then yeah. Problem.

I'm living on a city where the ambient temp is likely cold, so... Yeah, it's a problem, but my question is how can I fix this problem.

Buy some ICD7, get a guide on how to open a G73 (I suggest the BTO Tech video guide on YouTube), and do your thing. Alternately, you can RMA it and hope for the best.

Cold is relative. City temp is irrelevant. Is it 24 degrees or so in the room when you hit the tjunction? Then that's a problem. If it's cold in your city, but it's 33 degrees in your apartment (or mother's basement, as it may be), and your g73 doesn't have any ventilation ... then it's not a problem with the computer, it's pebkac.
