Hey guys,
I'm experiencing something really strange. When playing Call of Duty 4 I'm experiencing alot of stuttering even though the game is running at over 90fps. Its also not lag because my ping is around 50ms.
Other games such as Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 experiences no stuttering at all.
Would anyone know how to fix this?
Cheers.

I get it too... its a common problem with COD 4 and not specific to the G73. Apparently it has something to do with punkbuster and can be fixed via console command, but I I'm not sure. I spent a few hours researching and trying out different solutions before ultimately giving up lol. If you have any luck be sure to post about it and I'll plus rep you

Have you tried enabling Vsync on CoD4 and see if that makes any difference?

Are you connecting via wire or wifi? Windows Zero Config service is know to cause this 'skip' when scannnig for WAN connections occasionally.

core parking probably

maybe it's a graphics related problem?
COD4 and win 7 have some problem with each other
test it on singleplayer and on XP(if you have one) and let us know the results. -
The maximum refresh rate on your monitor is 60hz or 60fps, the computer is rendering to many frames for the monitor to handle so it stutters since you are missing part of the frames.
Here is your solution google FPS LIMITER you will need java but it will limit the amount of frames per second in your game.
The stuttering should stop.

Fps limiter has became the most effective solution. -
v-sync works fine on COD4, i get consistent 55-60 fps with v-sync on, but every now and then the game will freeze up for a split second then its back to nomal, fraps doesn't even show an fps dip when this happens

redda2, do you get a split second lag every 4-5 seconds consistently? I've got the same issue with COD4 multiplayer. I initially thought it was my wireless router. Try one of these two fixes:
- Turn on multiple graphics cards in the game settings
- Turn off vsync in the game's options, but turn it on in the Catalyst Control Center or graphics settings (if the option is even there, not sure, I'm at work) -
That's core parking....

I noticed this problem too when I got the game late last year. Some things I did to even the game out a bit was to have both Texture Resolution and Normal Map Resolution set at High. For some reason I found this to get rid of most of the stuttering. Also to limit the FPS in-game you can type in Console - /com_maxfps 60. V-sync is on as well. Now it runs better for me.
I'm wondering if it's also just the way the developers optimized it. I notice a pause sometimes before the "announcer" tells you "enemy helicopter!" and such. As if it stutters when calling on the sound file into memory before playing it. This happens to me in FIFA 08 as well.
Try changing the Textures and use the /com_maxfps command. Might help. -
Here's a fix - select TwinTurbo.
TT has showed a decrease in performance for some benchmark tests, but when I push the TT button my COD4 stuttering goes away a few seconds later as it kicks in. (Note, you won't see the TT icon pop up when you're in fullscreen game mode, but it does kick in and work.) Additionally, I've experimented with various combinations of power profiles and noticed Power4gear High Performance setting also seems to mitigate the stuttering. -
I think what Googlei said make sense since the frame rate is beyond the screen refresh rate can handle.

In the mean time you can watch this video to see if it has screen tearing issue:
