Good review of the G73JH. And like me they seem to like their G73![]()

As it should. If you don't take it apart, abuse the machine, trying to O/C it when there is no need to, or whatever other stupid things people do, the G73 is a great machine.
I hope future mobile PC Gamers looking for a new laptop read that than some of the stories on this forums. I don't believe all these G73JH are broken with legitimate complaints. I suspect a lot of these are from user abuse, trying to O/C it without knowing what they are doing, taking it apart, when putting it together **cked it up and trying to put the blame on Asus. For others it's just blatant going well beyond voiding the warranty. I also suspect some of the complaints about CS are probably from people who are verbally abusive. I just take all these complaints with a grain of salt and large dose of doubt. Don't even care anymore. -
I agree Ziddy, most of the people that complains here about the g73 having issues are people that overclocks , opening the back panel to replace cpu, screen, change bios etc.. I bet their g73 out of the box had no problem to begin with until they start messing with it
-
Of course its easy to blame user abuse. The numbers are against you though.
But hey, if that makes you feel safer with your purchase, so be it. -
Aside from the 5870M (5770) issues, I have no complaint.
(My personal unit is fine) -
Mine has been fine since I got it. -

You've got to be retarded to ignore all the problems that the G73JH has been getting posted all over the World Wide Web. Most average users don't even know what overclocking is.
I think some users here are trying to justify their purchases with hopes and dreams
The G73JH that I have at the moment is working PERFECTLY. I think those that have received a good working unit should be thankful and not slander other G73JH users with problems. -

The system is just fine, the CS is the worst I've ever dealt with.

I'd have'f to reiterate again that this(my 3rd G73JH) has been put to the test in Just Cause 2, RE5, UT3, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, FSX, Outrun 2006, Need for Speed:Shift, HAWX, Mass Effect 2, Gears of War, Dirt 2, Dark Void, Crysis, Cysis Warhead + Wars, CoD4, MW2, Borderlands, Bad Company 2, Half Life 2, HL2 Episode 1 & 2, Lost Coast, Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Assassin's Creed 2 and a serious Emu collection. These games are all installed and run fantastic on this(my 3rd G73JH) machine.
I don't think some people remember what's it like to open your brand new PC only to have hardware failure, defects or lockups. It's very frustrating. At times since I've had NO REAL problems on this unit I find myself forgeting the troubles I had with my past G73JH and getting comfortable.
But anyway...it's nice to know that our G73JH won an award -
I bought the best buy one for $1200 and the thing is amazing for the money. Haven't had a problem so far. Plays MW2 maxed out with 4xaa super smooth. I am simply floored by the price/performance of this laptop, especially when an equivalent alienware will run you 1000 more. I think I would definitely refrain from ocing, a lot can go wrong, since this laptop was engineered to run just the way it is.
Also might add there are different catalyst driver versions out right now for the 5870. The first thing I did was install the latest ati beta driver too. -

Running on the reduced res BB screen isn't going to have you hitting any limits though -
Totally deserves the award. I just got ACII and God!! It runs silk and specatcularly smooth everything maxed out...and I mean everything..including AA and vsync. Fantastic!! I got the PS3 version o ACII as well and clearly...a pc that can best it.

and ziddy because he was complaining about his GPU temps and redid the paste and pads (please correct me if I'm wrong ziddy). Yet ziddy, here you are with:
So everyone except you who OCs or takes apart their machine are doing "stupid things", the complaints I'm seeing are mostly from people who aren't doing this stuff or atleast not reporting it, so how could you know. There is someone in this thread that OCs the H out of his BCLK and hit an 880 core on GPU, but his is working great according to him.
I did OC my X1 GPU in the first week for Vantage and Unigine Epeen, even ran a few games OC'd for vids (then started recommending that nobody OC the GPU due to evensens RMA) and I didn't do any OC for the 3 following weeks and got a PSOD. Received a replacement A1 (so I did get some free hardware love for my troubles), didn't do any OC or run any non official G73/mobility drivers (looking at you mr. double standard) and had GSOD problems within 1 hour of playing games. RMA'd to Asus and they replaced the GPU because they felt that was the problem and I still think it was to.
Now I have my A1 back, SSD in and still running the 9.12CCC with no plans to ever run non-mobility drivers and little desire to install any not provided by Asus if possible (hopefully they will make their own version), but I'll go official WHQL ATi if they aren't.
To summarize, I have not abused my G73, I've had 2 legit RMAs and I still love my G73 and promote it along with the great RMA service that has been provided. Yes, I know I am not "most people", but this is BS with all the accusations and back scratching going on.
Dinoo, I don't care to have these questions answered, they are just rhetorical and I'm sorry I found you the easiest (34 posts) to make my point.
People, don't fringe off the problemed public because you want to feel good or superior about your purchase.
/end rant
To the OP, indeed Aand did a fair review. Sometimes it seemed like they were uninformed, but by the end they had everything straight enough. It was so odd for me reading that because I'm not usually ahead of the game (i.e. buying the latest and greatest), so it was weird knowing what I know and reading them playing catch up.

well earned.

I know there will always be nightmares....I just ended one with Dell...but as you can see here, IF you have a problem, even though I haven't dealt with Asus techs, they seem like they are getting decent marks:

Mine failed. I never overclocked it. I played games (mostly Crysis) for three days and it died. I called Asus customer service and got an RMA number. I also called NewEgg customer service and got an RMA number. I sent it to NewEgg because they had stock. They got it on a Friday and shipped my replacement the next Tuesday. The replacement unit has been running great for a month.
I thought the CS at both places was professional and courteous. I can't really complain. Of course my problem was simple. The LCD was black. I couldn't run any tests they wanted to run because the screen was dead. They got me to reset the BIOS and try to boot it two or three times and issued an RMA number. It really sucked to be out of an X1 and $1429 for two weeks, but thems the breaks.
That is an excellent and very fair review, by the way. I disagree with their assessment of the looks/style of the G73. I think it looks very good. -
