    Hey guys,
I've had this laptop since September 2010, and I've been using it a lot during those times. I used to download movies, so the laptop was running 24/7. And now my battery is probably totally dead. It won't charge anymore, even though I have the orange charging light on. As of now the AC is plugged in, but as soon as I remove it, it powers off. The notification tells me: 0% available(plugged in, charging). Consider replacing your battery. Yesterday the laptop was charging a few hours and I had it turned off. However there wasn't any improvement.
I would really appreciate some help, and I am still out of the country so I guess I won't be able to send it in, right?

I also attached the picture I took of my battery stats. My wear level is 81.6%

If you have run it a lot on battery only it is most likely dead. I have had mine since April 2010 and have done at least 100 full charge/discharge cycles and mine show 18% wear with the same tool you are using.
If you call asus they will tell you to calibrate: full discharge, plug in, and allow to charge for 3 hours or so. They may also suggest- remove battery and AC power, hold power button for 20 seconds, then try to calibarate again. (Can you tell I been there?)
Bottom line - ask then to cross ship a new battery to you (that way you can test the new battery while still having the old one) ruling out a mother board issue, which IMO is unlikely but possible. Please let us know how this works out for you.

Hmm that doesn't sound to pleasant :D But thanks for your help. I will call them and ask for that battery. I hope they can send it to me quickly. It's annoying as hell to run it like that.

I have the same issue with my g53j battery. My battery was working a few minutes ago when I was watching a movie. There was an error that said my battery ran out of juice (even though i was plugged in). I turned it on again and now it doesn't charge anymore. Battery icon just says 0% Available(plugged in,charging)

The battery icon ain't moving and Hwinfo says my wear level is only 8.6%!

EDIT: I rarely use my battery. My laptop is a desktop replacement because of the limited space I have in my room. I just put it on my desk and leave it plugged on most of the time.

So is my battery dead too?

Zafota, I don't think it is dead at that wear level. Try the calibration Techniques I stated above and let us know.
Also to all, mine was less than 1 year old and I asked for a cross shipped replacement, and the replacement died at 25 % charge remaining. That is another reason to ask for cross ship if your battery is dying/dead.
Also I was charged for shipping even though I 'thought' I was under warranty.

    Hi,
I have same problem with battery on my A2 model. The notebook is year and half old and I am using battery very rarely. I tried to calibrate it but it doesn't help. One or more battery cells are dead. It starts two weeks after battery warranty ends.
