    Hello everybody.

Recently the blue accent bar under the screen of my Asus G73JH quit working. At first I thought it was software related, but if I am in a dark room and see under the screen I can see it very faintly. If I press the lights on/off button it does go on an off as it should, so it is not software related. I can see some cable on the left hinge of the screen. The other day I used a long plastic tool and tried to wiggle the cable a little bit, and noticed that the light blinked somewhat so it may be a loose cable/connector.

I have already found another thread in this forum on how to assemble/disassemble this laptop.

I just want to find out if anyone has had this problem and what cable or connector to look for in order to fix this light.

    Thanks

    Joel

it is probably full with dust so that's why you can barelly see it
    clean it ...

Hello and thanks for your quick response

I cleaned it but the problem remains, It is either a false in the wiring that feeds power to the blue bar light or the light itself is busted, which I doubt because it is LED, and as I said it is very dim

    Regards

    Joel

Very faint would mean a drop in voltage rather than a break in the circuit unless the faint light is maybe another light source going through it and the LEDs are just off.

It is most likely a drop in voltage and not another source of light because it responds to the lights button turning it on and off

I have studied carefully this disassembly thread

    Asus G73 Series Disassembly Guide

I would like to check the led circuit first, I assume that I removing the LCD display bezel as stated in page 2-14 would be a good start,

    Any suggestions anyone?

    Joel

Basically follow through the guide until you can take that panel off, worth checking all the cables going to it and doing a visual inspection.
