This thread is for Gaming Videos created by NBR members using the Asus G73.​

The newest videos to the thread will always be on top of the first post for easy recognition of something new. I do not feel right presuming you want your video in this thread, so I will not grab any that are already made. If you would like your video here, please post it within the thread with any comments you want to add or PM me with the link and I will be happy to add it to the first post. I think it is a good idea to put all videos in one spot where they are easy to find and invite the entire NBR G73 community to participate so we can have a diverse sampling of games. So grab your camcorder or in game recorder, FRAPS and join in.

SkiFree. As much as I love the G73, there is no way it can handle those intensive graphics. You may have to wait for Alienware to come out with a dual 5870 first.

Thanks. I just bought a Kodak zi8 HD pocket vcam and will be trying to grab some vids with that (whenever I get another G73). Definitely won't be HFS100 quality, but should do the job. Mainly bought it for a snowboarding trip next week!

Hmm interesting. I was just looking at this tonight - JVC GZ-HD300

And when reading reviews I found it compard to the canon HF100, in researching that I came across the HF200.

Tempted to get a decent camcorder. I just spent $80 for a Vado HD a few weeks ago, my first camcorder. Its a far cry from a real quality one though, but nothing can beat 720p in your pocket the size of your phone for convenience.

May be on the look out for a HF200 deal but the JVC looks pretty good and supports H264 4.1 profile so thats up there with the $600+ cameras.

But yeah will have to look up your camera now to see how it compares. Looks like even your expensive camera still has some issues retaining the full exposure range of a computer monitor and thats the problem I have with the cheap Vado HD.

Id love to get more of those eyefinity videos up, and I have a Logitech G27 on the way now too that I will be eager to show off. (yay H-Shifter finally, got used to paddle shifting but I love H-shifters, probably not ideal for Dirt 2 but I'll use it anyways , nor is the 900 degree rotation ideal for drifting but I'll see how it goes)

I use the Sunpak 7500TM. Love the 2 bubble levels.

That JVC does look good. The HFS100 isn't a great indoor cam and I'm pretty sure that many would have issues so close to screens with limited or odd light sources, my filter may not be helping. Where it really shines is outdoor scenic and that's why I have it. It gets the job done for the G73 and I haven't even bothered to try and adjust the settings for this purpose, call me lazy.

I'd love to see more of the eyefinity vids, you have a setup. Congrates on the G27, you are going to love those pedals. Doesn't look like they improved the shifter any (my only beef was it wasn't the quality of the other 2 pieces), would be nice if they gave that some weight and tension when shifting, please let me know if they did, thanks. Test Drive Unlimited is my favorite with the G25 because it's the only game I've seen where you can force clutch use and be able to miss the shift, the game also puts the right transmission for the H per car (if the car uses paddle, e.g. most Ferraris, it sets up the paddles) all making it the most realistic driving game for the G25 use. You don't have to use the 900deg.

Disclaimer: All my vids to date have been with the Xbox360 controller, my wheel doesn't spaz like that when I'm actually using my G25.

I'll have at least 1 BC2 video up Friday night early Saturday morning with more coming. Starcraft2 isn't my game, but I and people like you would like to see them all on the G73 and that's why I started this thread.

lol, I didn't intend any correction on you slamming, but I had to call it like I seen it

yes you're missing something. While the 8xAA I did doesn't make much of a difference in 1080 than the 1xAA that image shows, that HBAO Off is huge and that can account for the extra FPS. It also depends on what map and what part of it those bench FPS rates were taken.

BFBC2 doesn't have a standard benchmark run that I've seen (like Crysis) so everyone can't easily compare results. Different maps (e.g. jungle, snow, sand, etc) will have different FPS rates.
That pic is not Max settings and as mentioned, it's the beta. Apples and oranges to the retail maxxed.

Screen went half rainbow and half odd hues, but external display works fine. My thought would be a malfunction between the connections of the GPU to screen or the screen itself.

Thanks. Never did get around to the Zalman cooler review, but I guess I have time now, lol. This pic below is a preview to the type of detail that it will include, but I'll wait until I get my G73 back and work in some pics with it on there, then post it in the 'Accessories' section.



The red is where I line up the bottom slots with the panel on, the G73 can be positioned higher with bottom panel off. There are better and certainly cheaper cooler solutions out there. What you're looking for is your strongest air flow under your bottom slots and/or open panel area, so if you buy a single large fan cooler, don't position those over the dead spot.

Off the top of my head while gaming with panel on I can attribute -1C to CPU & GPU, maybe a hair more with panel off. Where the cooler really helps is VRAM as it runs about 2-3C cooler panel on and -4C panel off. While the speed is variable, I either have it MIN (dead silent) or MAX (can hear it), the actual airflow isn't that different between them, oddly enough. If I had a way to measure system memory, I have no doubt it would benefit as much as VRAM.

The bottom surface of the G73 simply does not get hot like I've seen from laptops in the past, so a cooler for it is 90% about pushing cool air towards the system memory, HDDs, VRAM and heatsinks.

Hello, I never got around to MP, but imo @ 1080, I would start with All MED, 1xAA, 4xAF, HBAO Off, and in the settings.ini go Bloom=false.

I am using FRAPS to record the footage, sometimes having to notch the Screen Resolution down a bit to get smooth frames, and using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD to edit all the footage.

But I also have been having problems posting the video in true 1080p with sound as well.

hey quag, i had a question for you regarding borderlands. ive been watching your vids and it looked like a fun game so i finally decided to pick it up. i did what you said in one of the videos and added true to the vsync thing. there was an extremely amount of tearing before turning it on. but my question is whats the optimum setting for the game for you? it seemed like turning on vsync made the game take a bit of a hit in performance. right now i have everything on high and turned off ambient occlusion or something like that in efforts to maximize performance. any help would be great. thanks!

 

Idk user. the settings you see at 12 seconds in my "Asus G73JH & Borderlands Continuous SP" are what I use and I don't sense any lag at all so I had no need to go lower. Is it multiplayer?

Personally, I'd keep AO and disable Bloom and/or Dynamic Shadows if I were going to lower settings. You'll just have to experiment until you find your happy zone.

I plan on getting GTA IV for my birthday (in 2 days). I will make a gameplay vid of that too, and i will probably make a COD montage too

 

Mafia II looks to run well, I only seen 1 or 2 pop-ins and I really like the colors. That is one of the best skies I've ever seen in a game. Everything just seems to have the right saturation unlike Just Cause 2 which is a bit oversaturated imo. Depending on the DRM madness or not, I may be picking up that game. Thanks for sharing.
