Well, I have been reading alot on the forums for the past two days and I am in need of some help that I can not seem to find.

The issue I am having is that when the battery is in the laptop and I am using the AC charger I keep getting a flash of the power source on the screen, It keeps doing this every few minutes or so. It will switch from Battery Mode to AC mode. If I unplug the battery it will run for about 10 to 15 minutes or so and then shut off. I know I have to replace the battery but why is this doing it. The AC charger is not the Asus one that came with it. The AC Charger plug broke on it and wouldnt charge so i went out and bought a Targus APA32US with multiple tips and have been using that. Since then it has been doing the switch between battery and AC modes. Now is this because the AC Charger is not working or is this an internal component?

I originally thought it was an over heat issue and I noticed my Core temps were high. I used this site to help fix that and replace the Thermal Paste and now my core temps are low. I think this site has a Vast amount of people that might be able to help so I decided to join. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is the wattage of the original AC adapter? If it's 150W, the 90W of the Targus adaptor might not be enough.

I was kinda wondering that too, however the wife threw away the old power supply so I am not able to check it. I was kinda hoping someone here would have been able to provide that info.

Stock adapter is 150W (19.5V, 7.7A) and made by Delta Electronics apparently.

I think it might be the APA32US power supply you are using caused your issue. First of all, it's just 90W. CPU eats around 20-45W. The ATI 5870M eats 50W. Using the stock 150W power supply uses around 30W for charging on the average. Definitely your 90W power supply isn't really enough and might be causing premature charging on your notebook IMO.
