I recently got a new Asus G73JH from Best Buy a day ago and normally I make recovery discs for it then erase the hard drive. AKA a clean install of Windows 7. I used Ultimate. I ran into some problems with drivers like missing ones and incompatible drivers on Asus's site. Using this forum I found everything to make this laptop and its devices fully work. Just to make other peoples life's easier, I made a ZIP of all the drivers I used and to my knowledge are the latest. You can download it at MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service Also I included some of the Asus programs in there but you don't have to install them if you don't need to.

    Hope this helps.

This is for Windows 7 x64.

    EDIT:
I just re uploaded the driver package with the new driver updates.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YO2LT2LR

    Changes are:
Realtek audio is now the stock one from Asus.
Creative driver now included. Use at own risk. Known to have crashing issues for some with Steam and Ease of Access.
ATI driver now the latest 10.4 driver revision.

    Driver is about 340MB.

No it dose not. It is not there because I have herd that it leads to problems. I haven't tried it but on other people's guides they said some games don't like it.

I also tried reinstalling the Creative software on my system, followed by a Realtek driver update, as suggested in another thread, but unfortunately I'm still getting the lockups I was experiencing before first uninstalling Creative.

My advice? Remove ALL Creative Labs software from the notebook. There is definitely a conflict with this software, and it is not really needed anyway.

    Just my personal opinion.

but without creative, can u adjust the subwoofer's bass volume? I bring it up because Skygunner pointed this out in another thread.

I didn't keep the Creative package installed any longer than was necessary to determine that it was the root cause of problems. There is no single sub-woofer adjustment in the Realtek software. However, there are profiles that become available through the Realtek HD Audio Manager that weren't there before. These profiles are selections that change the tonal quality of the sound. I think some folks are expecting thunderous bass and that's unrealistic considering the size of the sub in the G73.

thanks for clearing that out Kalim. these profiles, u mentioned....do they show up after u update the realtek drivers (i.e. updating to new drivers - not the stock ones)?

The tab with the tonal profiles are included with the stock Realtek drivers, only it's hidden with the Creative package installed.

This was a God-send. The drivers available on the Asus website are terrible.

The whole reason for this upload was to make clean installs not such a driver search fest. Just in one spot. Also The video driver is now outdated. ATI released the 10.4 driver. I now have that installed and I'm having no problems. I didn't have any before but just to let everyone know. Same thing with the Realtek driver. The new one is R2.48.

If I was you, I would have removed Creative, it's worthless. Also, instead I would have included the stock ATI driver or at the very least, include a warning about the 10.4 VGA driver.

The only reason I included the Creative driver was because some asked for it and yes use the 10.4 video driver with caution. If you run into problems use the stock one. If you need the stock driver you can download it from Asus or http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/VGA/VGA_WIN7_64_868300.zip

From the original post that is 10.3.

Supposedly this laptop has 8.0 surround sound and and EAX 4.0 HD thingy (which I have no idea what it does). If I don't install the Creative stuff, will I still have surround sound through HDMI?

The EAX won't be there unless you have the Creative but your not missing much. Also even without Creative the 7.1 or 8 channel audio will still work out of the HDMI.

Great, I'm definitely uninstalling the Creative software then. I've experienced some freezes and maybe that will help.

Please upload a list of all the drivers included in the package and where you got them from? I tried downloading the driver package again last night but it failed.

Or could you upload to 4shared.com - free file sharing and storage (no captcha, faster downloads)

I can download the ASUS stuff from the asus support site, etc. just need the drivers that you found on the forums, those are hard to find.

I bought my asus from bestbuy also an it crashed recently before I made my recovery disc so I had to reinstall windows 7 without the asus drivers, so I downloaded this an it seems to have giving back all the stuff I lost but my catalyst control center crashed when I downloaded the the ATI ap that was in the zip file. Cause it gives me a message saying "Catalyst control centre:Command line interface has stop working" do you know of a way to fix this?

The files in this thread are almost a year old. I wouldn't use them (they could be up to date but I doubt it, it references Catalyst 10.4, we are on 11.2 now).
