Glad to hear it. Go to the other manufacturer forums and see the horrors that await you.

I said that because i had an Asus Striker Xtreme with dead memmry slots from night to day.
I'm saying that because a $1,600 gaming notebook should really not have this KIND of issues. ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...492354-all-g73jh-problems-solutions-here.html)
Or are you telling me that these problems are absolutely normal and expectable?
Please, understand: I am not an ASUS hater or anything like that. I am simply expressing my unhappyness about my last purchases. I know that every company has their problems and those problems will occur sometimes.
But, don't you agree with me that the ASUS G73 notebook line have problems more than "normal"? And the company isn't really striving or engaged in looking forward to solve them?
P.S: Sorry for my awful english. I'm from Brazil, doing what i can. -
Hello,
@kabrok, I work for a different notebook manufacturer - I can tell you this, that the high end "Gaming" computer that we sell costs much much more then the G73 and it too has been plagued with problems - the GPU heat issue on the G73 was nothing compaired to the ones suffered by my company.
ASUS is actually one of 10-15 "China" based manufacturers who may or may not be outsourcing some of their products to one of the other 10-15 manufacturers. This means that when you buy a DELL or HP or ASUS or Toshiba you're really buying to some extent the "name brand" because the hardware may have actually been manufactured and built by the same company, it just has a different look and a different NAME on the outside. The insides are all the same.
As with any technology hardware there are going to be issues - Machines like the G73 push the technology to the next level - If you're going to purchase the latest and greatest technology you're going to take a chance on the hardware and the company behind the hardware.
Honestly, ASUS has stood behind the G73 and provided some excellent support and continues to provide updates. I can't say the same for the company I work for. They release a product to the market and forget about it. They do fix problems but only for the next revision of the released product. Not necessarily to the products already being used by the customers.
I am happy with my ASUS G73 and I don't regret a single day of my purchase..

Now I ask you, give Gary and his team a chance to get things going. He's been at this for less than a year. Case in point, I haven't heard anything about JW overheats due to degrading TIM. I know Gary mentioned back in June that he would look over the process in the factories, and make changes as needed. I believe the models coming out since August have benefited from this. If this upcoming final BIOS fixes the keyboard / trackpad issue, I can assure you the issue will be fixed in the JW and SW series, and others after that, and I'll keep nagging them to address earlier models too. -

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread and hopefully something will come about.
apologies if this hardly makes sense; I'm on a bit of meds and very tired. Will post something a bit more coherent later! -
@kabrok
Asus is the only company that makes their own boards for their products. They also make some of the idustry leading Motherboards & Video cards period. Can DELL or ACER or ANYONE attest to that? I don't think so. I have every ROG laptop from the G71 to this model and although they all have had a few problems fixed through BIOS & driver updates, and Asus has been diligent in fixing them to finalize the support for their product.
Good luck if you buy something else, you will need it. -

Without that the touchpad is barely usable, it'll jump all over the screen since it's so sensitive. -

Updated to 213 Bios on my JH. FINALLY!!!! My touchpad actually works? and My keyboard doesn't lag (yet, and hopefully never)? I'm not used to this at all, but even I'll say, I'm proud to own and hopefully Asus will continue pumping out the updates ftw (maybe a vbios next? or something for that creative package so chastity doesn't need so much hax). for now at least my laptop can be used as such

Hey guys I know this thread is really old, but I was wondering if there was still anyone there that could help. I got my G73JH back in September of 2010 and everything was working perfectly fine until a couple of days ago. some of my keys are starting to act weird and even without holding the windows key down, they seem to do the windows key shortcut without even holding down the windows key. For example my l key now locks the computer and my p key has the projection modes, and my x key opens up the computer utilities ect...
At first I thought m windows key had gotten stuck or something, but I don't think that is the case anymore. I am not sure if it a hardware issue or not because on my login screen even my electronic keypad the "l" key doesn't work. I have even tried plugging in an external keyboard and the l key still doesn't work and all the other keys still perform the windows shortcut actions without holding down the windows key. It is really annoying and I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. I have tried updating the keyboard drivers and such but that didn't seem to do anything at all. But I still haven't touched anything with the BIOS or synaptics yet. I am waiting to see if this problem's solution has been established already or if anyone can help.
Thanks! -
Sounds like you need a replacement of the keyboard. Or at least try redoing the ribbon connection.
