    Hi,
I (maybe) have a problem with my Asus G73JH (BD reader version).
When I use HWiNFO32 to check my CPU cores frequencies, I see them all at maximum speed (2,8GHz) as I set in Power4Gear.
The funny thing is that when I start doing something CPU intensive (say creating a large WinRAR archive), all the cores slow down to 1,8GHz (multiplier x13) and there they stay until I'm finished. No thermal issues are reported.

This happens regardless of the fact that I keep the notebook connected to the power supply or not.

Is this behaviour normal? It sounds me quite weird, to say the least.
Thanks in advance for you help.
    Best,
    EnTiTy

Definitely normal. This is due to the way that intel turboboost works. Basically, turboboost will raise the frequency of one core to 2.8 if the other cores are not too solicited. Depending on the number of cores used, the multiplier will go down to x13 if all 4 cores are fully used, it's explained more in detail somewhere on tomshardware.
