    I need help!!

I have the Asus G73JH with ATI Radeon HD 5870. I recently upgraded to windows 8 and now having so many issues I regret upgrading. But for $14.99 I thought it was worth a try.

Since the upgrade I downloaded the Driver update program and it searched and found 37 out od date drivers. After updating them all and setting everything up. I am now having random freezes, keyboard lights sometimes work but 90% of time do not. Anytime starting a game after playing for any amount of time from load up to about 2 min the screen just goes all one color with lines in it and requires a hard restart.

I have read countless threads for help but with now success. I have the windows 7 home premium OA sticker with product key on bottom of computer. I do not have any restore disks, so is there anyway for me to download windows 7 and use that key to go back to windows 7. Or does anyone have the answers to help me get this windows 8 working??

I tried the update with keeping all my files as well as a complete reinstall and wipe of system. But seems I just can not get this to work.

I will try to provide any information I can that may help. Also after freezing up it sometimes takes about 3 hours of cold starts to get it to finally boot back up.

    Please help if you can.

    Thanks

First ,if u have paid for windows 8 u should continue with it.i have the same model that i bought this december has the same issue if freeze rampantly . the solution to this problem is asus itself the have used custom made ati 5870. so mostly the ati driver u have installed is the cause of the freezes.

Uninstall the ati & creative driver that causes freezes .The ati driver provided with the windows 8 is good enough to play gamed without any problem.played assassin creed 3 at max out setting with no hang

if u want all the ATI CATALYST CENTER FEATURES go to

    link

and download X86 or X64 bit display driver and it should do.
if this works and some how u assume to continue with windows 8 i could certaily help you with keyboard and other bulls u are suffering due to pathetic asus after support.
    hope it helps.

    Hi Sumt007,

I'm sorry to hear you are having some problems upgrading to Windows 8 on your G73JH. I myself have the same unit, and am running Win 8 with no problems. First and foremost you should check your system to see if you are running the current BIOS and vBIOS. You can use HWINFO64 to get this info easy. You should be on v13 of the BIOS, and 12.20.xxx of the vBIOS. If your system's vBIOS is 12.17.xxx, please go here for updating the vBIOS:

    G73Jh GSOD Vbios Update

Once both are current, you can then work on your software drivers. You can grab the current INF and SATA drivers from Intel's site, as they were recently updated for Win 8. As for Asus components, the most significant is Power4Gear Hybrid, as it's been updated to 2.x for Win 8 as well.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Power4Gear Hybrid

For AMD, I am using 13.1 WHQL w/o issue.

    AMD Catalyst

Your card does not require to use Asus-released graphic drivers as long as your card is running the 12.20.xxx vBIOS I linked earlier.
