Firstly, my sincerest apologies on posting the same question twice (1 time in a sticky thread) and now in my own thread, but I'm really desperate to get my mouse to work in game, hence this detailed thread.
I've mapped numpad 7 & 8 onto mouse key 4 & 5 respectively, and it proved to work in windows text field (internet explorer, notepad & etc). But when I tried to use the mouse keys in Garena, it doesn't work. Likewise, I've tried to use the mapped hotkeys in warcraft 3 and it doesn't work too. I've tried re-installing and googling 5000 gazillion times and but I'm really out of any clue.
If it helps, the default hotkey 4 & 5 (unmapped) works in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
I'd greatly appreciate some help....

I tested mapped keys in two different games, Age of Empires II and Demigod. They worked in both games. What I did: using the HP Voodoo Mouse software, I selected keystroke/macro under the button I wanted to map. I used buttons 4 and 5 just to replicate your situation.
In the open text area, I typed "." or "," for Age of Empires II (which selects idle workers or military units) and "h" or "n" for Demigod (which selects your Demigod or his minions). Then I clicked ok to close the text area box. Now I hit apply in the main interface. Don't forget to hit apply. After that, I loaded my game, tried it out and it worked.
In your case, you're using the numpad keys. Make sure you have Num Lock on when you set the key. I don't play on Garena, and I don't have Warcraft 3 either. I could test in Starcraft 1 or 2 if you like.
One other difference is that my mouse is the HP version, not the one that came with the Asus G73JH. I had mine before I bought my G73. If you want to try the HP drivers you can download them here. I suspect they might not work, but you can try them. -
First of all, my thanks to you, micman for taking the effort for all the testing. Really appreciate, pal - I think you're the only one here who took the trouble and went through all those measures to help me with my mouse issue.
I finally managed to get the mapped keys to work after several re-installations. At one point, I almost gave up after the Voodoo DNA software couldn't detect my mouse at all.
So Yay! Topic closed! -
, please help.
After a restart, the mapped keys still work. But I can no longer adjust my mouse sensitivity with the software, the sensitivity is awfully low now.
And the bigger problem is that when I tried to run modern warfare 2 on steam, it says "it detects some changes on my com since the last time i ran modern warfare 2" after which, i modern warfare 2 seems to run on a low res screen and all the settings now are haywire. im getting keyboard lag too..... sigh -
Sounds like you're having a bad day
Well anytime strange stuff starts happening the best place to troubleshoot is with a fresh start. If you get a fresh start maybe the problem will go away, or, it will come back and you can troubleshoot further.
The only way I can think of to completely get rid of your Voodoo Driver software is to start in the Device Manager. With your mouse plugged in, you should see an entry for it under Mice and pointing devices. Right click the entry and select, "uninstall." Before you click yes to the dialog box that pops up, check "Delete driver software." Now hit ok. Unplug your mouse at this point so it doesn't get re-installed.
Now in Add Remove Programs, remove the Voodoo software with an uninstall. Now restart your computer.
Ok Now before you plug your mouse, load up Modern Warfare 2. Load up some other games too and see if they are all ok now. If they are, try a fresh install of the Voodoo software and re-map your keys again. If they're not, well it could get more complicated.
Sorry you're having such a bad time of it. If it gets too bad, you might want to consider getting the mouse looked at under warranty. I think it's a one year warranty. Is it less than a year old? -
Did you already know about the keyboard lag discussion going on? If not here's the link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/513043-keyboard-lag-debugging.html
Sorry to bother if you already knew. -
Already removed the software and even did a system restore back to an earlier date...
keyboard lag only applies on the "" key.. when i pressed it first time.. nothing appears till i hit another key...
now when I try to select optimal settings on modern warfare 2, it returns me with a low res, and all crappy settings options.. sigh this suck -
I hate to say it, but is a fresh Windows install possible? That's what I've seen others on here do when they get driver conflict issues. Plus Asus has some updated drivers on the support site. Those might help you a little.
I'm surprised nobody else has jumped in here. I know I'm not the only owner of this mouse on the forum. -
Also remember that not everyone got the same mouse.
