ASUS G73JH-B1 17.3" Notebook. ASUS G73JH-B1 -
Nope, distributors have stock on them, so if you know a distributor you can buy it.
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
No, they are not in stock. ASUS confirmed they are not going to be released until the 1st week of September and they are approximately $100 more then the A1.
-
The ONLY diff. between the B1 and the A3 is the A3 has 8GB SSD ram tucked into the 2 drives (4GB each) and the 740Qm processor...
-
Don't count on it! If the newer machines are being sold for MORE than the old ones, they will likely see this as the discount already! lol
If they planned on lowering the price of the current model, you can bet that they would have made the B1's the same price. Unless a genuine case can be made for the coming model being more superior to the older ones than a measly hundred bucks, the price will likely stay the same, at least through september.
Another problem is that the JW's coming out are, to all outward appearances, hardware-inferior to the current G73s. This means that it may have the opposite effect. People could end up only buying the "newer models" if they cannot get their hands on the older ones. Go on eBay and try to buy an almost five year old 60GB PS3! They are MORE expensive than the new ones. Why? Because Sony stripped backward compatibility, a good deal of connectivity options, and a couple of USB ports from the newer models, maing them, as far as most gamers are concerned, inferior to the models I have.
Edit: By the way, I am thinking now that perhaps my post would apply more to the JW and NOT to the B1. -
Too bad that there gonna cost 100 dollars more
-
A website I found has it listed at $1799.99...........with ETA of From August 23 to September.
-
So when is the ETA? And approximately when will it start shipping?
-
Are you dense? The post above you has the answer.
-
i want an update and no thank you i'm not dense... maybe i wasn't straightforward enough in my original post.
-
They are now shipping these in Canada!
-
its the US i'm worried about but its good.. looks like Asus is giving them out.. so has pccanda got its B1s already?
-
Any updates for US? This has not been a good 2 days.
-
PC Canada seems to have the best price for them. I also know redialcomm.com has them but their price is higher, and they are in canada lol.
-
nothing for US? This is a joke... seriously , my payment goes through tomorrow and no luck.. brb... its taken 6 days for money to get into paypal yet and it still has to be converted and dropped into gentech's account.. what a joke paypal is.. and so is asus..

G73JH-A1 =$1549
G73JH-B1 =$1749 (133MHZ CPU UPGRADE)
G73JW =$1645 (133MHZ CPU UPGRADE, USB3.0, 120HZ SCREEN, WIRELESS HDMI, 460 M 1.5GB VRAM, 1333MHZ RAM AS STANDARD, BETTER INTERNAL COOLING TO PREVENT GSOD)
what does G73jh-B1 have? a measly 133mhz cpu upgrade??
for which, it costs $200 more than the g73jh-A1
g73JW with 460m may be slower, big if, but the reason its more costly than g73jh-a1 is because g73jw has many new features like 120hz screen, usb 3.0, WIDI (wireless HD streaming with 0 latency), 1333mhz Ram standard(as compared to 1066 in g73JH), newer internal circuity to prevent GSOD's
then why is g73jh-B1 so much more expensive than the g73jh-A1 model or the upcoming g73JW model?

hello
there's gonna be an IT fair where i live next week, and they're gonna be selling the g73jh-b1, if im not wrong with the hybrid drives in it
im not actually a hardcore gamer, but i do play like dirt2, mw2, nfs shift, etc and i wanted a large (~17") laptop that can play these on high detail level and that i can watch movies and things on. my budget is around the equivalent of US$1800
i was seriously considering this laptop but now all these issues ive found out about are kinda throwing me off... do you folks think i should take the risk and get this or should i be looking at something with lower specs but fewer issues -
its ur choice.. like i did , if u bought from an online US reseller , they test it for u and check the issues.. if u buy from the fair , they won't exactly do that so u could get a faulty unit.. if u want , try asking them to test it for u in the fair.. like open it up , install 1-2 games and see if GSOD's on stock drivers.. also check the audio ports , outputs and keyboard touchpad... but i reallly doubt they'll do it.. anyways , always nice to meet someone from singapore.. i lived and studied there for 9 years...
-
In that case i may get the msi gx660. -
i will keep the msi in mind (though i think it looks kinda bad heh, and it doesnt have a keyboard backlight)
there are also rumours that the g73jw will be releasing during the fair, so ill look out for that too. from what i gather this is a performance-wise slightly inferior version of the g73jh, with a better screen, widi, and usb3.0? and also hopefully fewer bugs. the thing is theres no reviews on this yet
as of now the g73jh still looks like a fantastic deal... ah well ill be waiting for the price lists to come out online -
I know its not delivered to any one yet, but any reviews on the B1 by a reseller or a foreign site yet?
GSOD, yes or no, on B1 -
-
yes asus singapore confirmed with me that the jw will have the gtx460m card but from what i found on the net the overall performance should not be a whole lot worse than the jh...
however from what they told me, the jh-b1 they are releasing here has two hybrid drives as standard, and they dont allow customisation at these fairs... which probably means it'll be out of my price range...
hm i think i'll end up taking a decision based on price. or if nothing is perfect im thinking ill wait 2 months for the next fair, cos im not really in a huge hurry -
I would do either two things.
Wait for a vBios fix for G73jh and buy that.
Or just wait until the next gen ATi and hope Asus supports it. If not you can count on MSI to do so.
Unless you want PhysX, CUDA and 3D Vision, there is no need for 460M. It's pretty clear to me the HD5870M will be better than 460M. 460M is a mid-range and HD5870M is a high end. It just happens an Nvidia mid-range mobile card runs as hot, more power hungry and as expensive as a HD5870M. -
whoa im not sure exactly what theyve done but the jh-b1 here is going to be EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS above what i thought it would be based on american prices...
s$3300, or us$2400 -
-
now i have to go find an alternative (i had the asus n61jq in mind as a second option, what say?) or i will wait for the next fair around november end, by which time there should be more information about everything -
Amazing! Only Asus can get away with recycling technology in their laptop that is almost a full year old and then tacking on a huge price increase for fixing the problems in the line and for a couple of unnecessary hybrid drives!
You want to know the irony? People are going to line up to buy this regurgitated lappy in droves. -
Well...you forgot about Apple...
-
-
anyway i think thats me out for now, its very unlikely im getting this unbelievably good looking, fantastic spec'd laptop this week unless the price dramatically falls by the last day of the fair haha. thanks folks -
I'm from st gabriel's secondary school.. did college in UK and also doing Uni.. what are u doing? Anyways , if u can , try negotiating a bit... and ask if they have an older A1 type model without hybrid drives , which might be cheaper.. best thing is to go funan mall and buy from there.. i bought my Dv5t from challenger which u nver should do ever... i regret it.. look at buying from a proper authorised asus shop.
-
Damn! You mean that Asus had the audacity to release a new off-shoot line on the same build and didn't fix the most serious issue? That is some serious balls, dude. <eyeroll> -
You're surprised? The GSOD issue is a vBios problem. This new physical model was just a ruse to quell the rising fury.
-
i don't think so. Asus's rep here , Gary Key is trying his best although the useless asus techs can't make a proper vBIOS.. we should get a fix soon..
-
There is the vBIOS FINAL + ATi Remove Drive Tools (just for precaution) + HP USB Disk Tool + Win98 boot files...
ENJOY! WOOOOOOOOOOTH
PD: Works at 100% with no GSOD and in the Lastest NON-ASUS Ati Catalyst Driver =)
