    Ok so i still havnt left the office yet gravy, but i found some more possible fixes i'd like to post incase your interested in them. If you still havnt found a fix, i have links, descriptions and instructions u can try, ill try them when i get off of work.

    Game wont launch:

    Remove trademark:
    1) Go to the folder where Origin installed BF3 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3™ ;) (that's where mine was installed)
    2) Rename the Battlefield 3™ folder to Battlefield 3 - (removing ™ ;)
    3) Start "regedit" , browse to the following key :
    HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WoW6432Node\EA Games
    Change the GDFBinary & InstallDir paths to C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3 - again removing ™

    Set administrative:
    1) Go to C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3
    2) Right click on bf3.exe> properties> compatibility> check “run this program as administrator” + Run in Compatibility Mode for XP Service pack 3...(the browser for battlelog will say u can only communicate with friends and check stats on battle log in that compatibility, but the game will launch fine) :)
    3) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin or C:\Program Files \Origin
    4) Right click on origin.exe> properties> compatibility> check “run this program as administrator”

    Game launches but crashes(general fix):

    Set to run on one core:
    1) Click ctrl+shift+esc task manager should start, if not try alt+ctrl+delete
    2) Start battlefield 3
    3) As soon as it start go to task manager >processes> right click on bf3.exe>set affinity> uncheck all but cpu

    *** Here is the 1 of the two that caught my eye gravy...
    Specific event log fixes:

    :::
    uncheck the "Go to game when ready" option, which is seen in the little 'loading-screen' when you start a BF3 game, then it does work! Just dont hit the "Go to game" button as soon as it appears, wait for 10 - 20 secs then try

    :::
    Start Origin, pick a game, game manager does its thing and when it goes to BF3...that's when I got the "Battlefield 3 has stopped working" error. Happened over and over again.
    Try maximizing your battlelog page before it goes to BF3. If that does not work the first time, click it again to restore the window which will make it smaller.

    :::
    1) Go to your game’s installation folder that’s named “battlefield3TM and rename it to “BATTLEFIELD 3″ (without the TM).
    2) Open RegEdit (Start -> Run — regedit) and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREEA Games and rename any Battlefield keys that have “TM” in it!
    You *might* only have to rename the folder, but try doing so with the registry too if that doesn’t work.
    Go to Origin. Settings. In Game. Disable Origin in game

    Remove the ATI Tray tools- Right click- exit tools (double check processes and services)

    Check the registry And make sure its not a TM symbol anywhere on the install, or the folder
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WoW6432Node\EA Games

    ***The 2nd one that caught my eye, which i never thought to try, was to remove that "ATI" tray tools icon in the tray area. As well as launching origin as Admin..

    Im going to try these when i get home. Some i have already tried, but since im unsure what you've tried, i figured i'd help however i can gravy. Cheers!

    I have to ask a noob like question, I would not say I am a noob but when it comes to all things ATI i am. I've never updated my ati drivers in my notebook and have not owned a ATI product in 10 years. so it's not as simple as the past when it was just one driver.

    XxNune3dg3xX has two ati driver links. one is catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe
    and the other is 11-10_mobility_vista_win7_32-64_ccc.exe this link I would think is the newest driver package.

    but what is this catalyst_mobility_64 package,Catalyst Software Suite ? what does that do and is it not included in the other package?

    just asking.

    Ok. So I got the damn game Running f***n beautifully Gravy! OMG. This game really is amazing! U had the same problem I had. I used Tijo's link for the brand new driver bundle (instead my divided ones) and Wahlah! Running with no bugs or problems. It took my video driver from 8.6 something to 8.9. Make sure u have the latest .Net framework (which comes in the windows update, as well as the SP1 for windows7). U DO NOT have to do a clean install! I just went right over my old drivers, no time to waste. I'm POSITIVE this will solve UR problem TOO. I was out of options and hope too, but don't lose faith. Click on TiJo's link and do a half-a** install of the 11.10 ccc ocl 64 bit catalyst driver. Just make sure u have that .NET Framework, .NET Framework updates, and the SP1. The download requires you to have those to get the install to roll EVER so smoothly. IT WILL solve yoour problem, urs is IDENTICAL to mine.

    Do a Dxdiag and check the driver version...(I bet its 8.6 and not 8.9) then go str8 to Windows Update and make sure sure u get those done. Be. Sure to check the log for installed updates to make sure ur getting what u need installed. 2nd, go str8 to Tijo's link on this thread, on this PAGE and get to business. I use firefox so I had to wait 15 mins for it to finish, but I fell asleep so that's why I'm just now posting about it, lol its 3am here. U don't need any bios updates or any explicit file searching. Just follow this thru. 3rdly, make sure u run BF3 as an admin, origin will pop up automatically and do the rest. Then go and pick a game. Now u'll notice rather than the "BF3 has stopped working", ull get the initializing(but it won't hang there), then loading...then ur windows tool bar at the bottom will have the bf3 icon there (it may or may not blink, but I think it pops up and does the User Account Control to confirm the launch of the game). Confirm it....Bam UR there!

    Let me warn you though...You WILL get BSOD'd IF you dont have all the necessary windows updates. It happened to me. Doont get discouraged tho. doing the windows updates means you will need to restart the pc several times to have the updates established. i was lacking the updates because i just got my Asus in the beginning of Oct, and went str8 to polaying games, rather then doing updates. SO its likely, u already HAVE most of the updates you need. Either way gravy, just go check the log to be sure of yourself. This error is identical and i have even shown it to the tech dept at my job and matched ours up on the forum this morning, they said it will solve your problem, even if your drivers were 8.7 or 8.8, and mine were 8.6, when you reach 8.9 with this install, youll be set. I doubt another error will come creeping up, i wouldnt expect to see that. Good luck to you man. My character account name is "X_HaiLe" @ [email protected]. When u get finished, look me up, there is so much s**t going on and the maps are HUGE idk wuts goin on and could use a friend out there, since unlike cod, this game requires teamwork. Theres jets shooting at me, choppers, tanks they're EVERYWHERE!

    Nune, This worked for me as well. I spent 3 days trying to get bf3 to work on my g73jh. I Spent 3 hours on the phone and online chat with EA games, who are useless. They had me update the graphics card drivers, which ruined the resolution then told me to restore from the day before and ask if she was helpful, then hung up on me. SO...then I headed to the forums. Keep in mind I know very little about this stuff and thought it was pretty complicated to get through the process of getting this game to work. You post was the most helpful i could find. I had the same error message as well. I got the GSOD after playing for 20 mins then looked at windows updates and found 2 .net framework updates you referred too. It has been butter ever since and Im not even running in turbo mode. Here is what I did in this order. You have to update the bios and vbios before you update the graphics card drivers. I also by habit restart to computer after every update I do and did so between these steps

    1.) updated the bios from 209 to 213 with the Asus Utility flash tool and restarted computer
    http://support.asus.com/Search/KDetail.aspx?SLanguage=en&no=1802&t=0
    2.)Updated the vbios to 93vbios and restarted the computer
    http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?774-G73jh-vBios-update-tutorial-for-GSOD-matter
    3.)updated the ATI/AMD drivers...clicked and ran drivers link and restarted the computer
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/621492-amd-catalyst-11-10-released.html

    right click on the bf3 and run as admin and BOOM up and running.

    hopefully this will help anyone having the same issues, I am a newbie at this stuff. Keep in mind I have the g73jh-bst7 best buy model which had stock bios and vbios as did Nune I believe.

    Hey guys, I am in the same situation as XxNune3dg3xX. Just got the same computer and model, I have read about bricking the computer everywhere. I am extremely paranoid about doing the same thing.

    XxNune3dg3xX, did you successfully update the BIOS to 213, and the VBIOS to v93? If so what way did you do it? I just want to follow someone's foot steps. Because I bought this computer off of another person and it is about 9 months old, but in great condition. I am currently on a BIOS 211, but I do not know how to check what VBIOS version I am on.

    Read the bios update guide that can be found in the sticky in the main asus forum. Use the easy flash method. I have flashed numerous bios on my Asus laptops since 2009 using easy flash and i never bricked anything. Simply make sure the laptop is plugged in and that the battery has sufficient charge to flash the bios should you suffer from a power outage.

    Same thing for the vbios, use ATIFlash to flash it obviously though ;).

    My computer doesn't have Easy Flash, only Winflash....should I try the Winflash then? I feel like Winflash isn't reliable.

    Actually, I do have it, but who has the reliable 213 BIOS that is working well, and several people have used it? Chastity's, it seems like or so?

    Thanks, tijo!

    I got to update the BIOS to 213 with no problems! :)

    For the VBIOS, I'm confused still where do I get this ATI Flash thing, not sure how it works, and where would I get the download for the most recent VBIOS?

    Thanks tijo. I appreciate it man, I understand how to do it now, but with Chastity's it has lower battery clocks and overdrive enabled. What does that mean exactly, would I have a longer battery life with this version instead. Cause I am not sure which one to do now.

    That was the vBIOs, not the BIOs... That being said, i deleted my copy may moons ago. All I have is the vbios on the card itself.

    Chris already updated his bios to 213. Now on to the vbios, yes Chastity's bios will give you better battery life and will unlock overdrive so it is available should you want to overclock. With the SSD only in use, i can get a solid 3 hours on power saving settings.

    Ah, ok. I am interested in trying Chastity's vbios, but are there any risks involved in doing this. It seems like you have been running this vbios for a while with no problem. In addition, to that I do not have a SSD, still using the 5400RPM HDD =/

    You do not need a SSD. Sure using one is awesome, but expensive considering the capacity of the drive, i wouldn't use a SSD without another storage drive. Yiddo has a thread on SSDs in the G73, i'm pretty sure it is in the sticky and you can head to the ssd section in hardware if you're interested.

    There is one thing i'll say right out though, 5400RPM is slow. If you are looking for something to upgrade, definitely get a faster drive, 750GB 7200RPM like a 7K750 or scorpio black, seagate momentus XT or SSD, it'll make a difference compared to what you have right now for certain.

    I'm on Chastity's OD2 since she provided it and no problems due to the vbios ever occurred on my 5870.

    I'll probably upgrade to a 7200RPM sometime soon, then. Doesn't that mean I need to transfer everything over to like an external hard drive and then transfer it to the new HDD? I'll avoid the SSD for now due to prices I'll wait for them go to go down sometime.

    Alright, I am going to go ahead and try Chastity's VBIOS then. Thanks tijo, huge help man. Look forward to hearing from you again.

    Tijo, I have a problem.....I followed the step in the guide I changed it to a FAT32, and used the win98 for the DOS, I took the 2 files from the od2 folder, and took the ATIflash, and put them on the USB drive.

    I boot the computer on the flash drive I type in "vflash" hit enter, and the it says "Bad prompt or command." So I'm not sure where to go from here I'm on another laptop right now. Not sure what to do.

    vflash is the command for the stock vbios made by asus. For the od2 vbios you have to type od2 which is the name of the .bat that will execute the required command lines.

    I am trying to update my bios on my G73 because I have not done so since I purchased it two years ago. I followed the instructions that were posted on this page: I downloaded WinFlash and BIOS 213. I opened WinFlash and updated the bios successfully with bios 213 but it never automatically rebooted my computer when I exited the program. So I rebooted on my own and started my pc back up. When I look at my BIOS information under regedit it says I still have the BIOS from 2009. However, when I try and redo the update using WinFlash, it says I have the newer one installed and it forces me to exit. Did I do something wrong here? do I have 213 or not?

    Press F2 at boot, you can check the bios version from there. Alternatively, you can use a utility like CPU-Z, look under the mainboard tab.
