Hi, I recently bought an Asus RoG G73JH-BST7!
And I bought Battlefield 3, but i needed to update drivers, have tried every single driver, i can play for a while any game of kind everytime it's different and then PC just freezes.
Frozen screen, sound frozed i need to hard reset, T° goes up to +/- 75°C but i think in load its ok, so i can play any other game on stock Asus homepage given VGA driver!
Can somone help me or atleast tell whats wrong, why this happens!
PS. Bios is 213 newest from Asus, vBios recently updated .93

bakhu, there is a lengthy thread here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/620084-battlefield-3-g73-jh.html but after looking through I did not see the freeze issue. Since the sound also freezes I would update the sound driver.
-
Hawe done that already, hawe original drivers from Realtek 2.67 i think, started to think maybe its faulty installed Windows from factory, as this Laptop was refubished!:
-
good point, If it was mine I would do a fresh install of win 7. Do you have a DVD with 7 on it? Also did you get a driver DVD with the computer?
-
Sadly no, but i hawe spare Windows 7 Ultimate x64
and decent broadband(internet connection) can fastly donwload all neded drivers
or anyway i hawe them already on HDD just need to reinstall main partiotion, thank you anyway for help
-
I don't know if this is mentioned on the thread re. fixes for Battlefield 3 crashing, but I found changing the default format for the speakers eliminated frozen sound/video crashes in both BF2BC and Skyrim, and it's an easy thing to try.
Got to the speaker icon in lower right, select playback devices, speakers, advanced, then select 24 bit, 44100 Hz.
Hope it works for BF3 too! -
Thank you check out and report results

1) Update your DirectX
2) If not better, uninstall AMD driver, reboot, run ATI Crap Cleaner / Driver Sweeper 3.20 and install 12.01 Preview set

Done than numerous of times and the same result whith each and every driver i could find, pc plays games normaly only with stock from Asus homepage
-
So i tried both of this possible solutions to my problem, but same thing, it just hangs up and i need to make hard reset, but if it was some kind of problem with GPU then i would not run normaly on Asus given drivers right??
-
The stock drivers are lower performance and thus more forgiving with issues like memory timing, as evidenced by the annoying GSOD issues everyone had with newer drivers before a vbios update was released.
Perhaps there is a slight fault with your GPU that is only exhibited when more advanced drivers are used?
Did you do a reinstall of windows 7 at all? If there's no luck after that are you under warranty? If so you might be best to send it in, but I would PM Chastity first so you can make sure it gets looked at properly, otherwise there is the risk the technicians might just install the stock drivers and send it back!
If you got a new mainboard and GPU I can't imagine the problem would persist, as most people simply install the newer drivers after updated the vbios/bios and have no problems. -
No haven't yet reinstalled Windows but thinking of it
because i remember once my friend got Desktop PC with faulty installed Windows and similar problem was with him to.
I bought PC as refubished so i hawe maximum of 50 day warranty left. But im 100% sure its not faulty GPU because Furmark runs on old drivers for 2 hours and T° not exceeds 90°C -
Can you please check the vBIOS version installed using HWINFO64 or GPU-Z? Your issue sounds like you may be on an earlier beta vBIOS.
Case: 1599016 -
GPU-Z Shows - BIOS Version 012.020.000.032.038352
HWiNFO64 shows - VIdeo BIOS Version 012.020.000.032.038352 -
Would you be interested in RMA'ing your unit to me so I can check this out? Without seeing it, I can only think of updating Intel INF with -overall switch.
Case: 1599016 -
Just reinstalled W7 gonna check whats up, what do you mean with Intel INF?
EDIT:So just reinstalled W7 and evertying so far look good.
EDIT2: Only not all buttons work as video changing and touchpad disabler
EDIT3: Reinstaled ATK package and synaptics all fixed, works like a charm gona report here more.
If anyone hase similar issue as me they should definetly reinstall Windows 7, fresh clean install delete OS partiotion, recovery data partition atleast for me it helped, before that i even couldn't playe 1 full Battlefield 3 game, now i played for 4 hours and works like a charm! Thank you Chastity and BIGGEST Thanks goes to JOSEA and my Girlfriend who advisec me to reinstall W7! Thanks

Reinstall the ATK package and/or the synaptics drivers, that should fix the tp disable issue.
-
So I'm kinda suprised that only what was needed was to reinstall Windows, from that conclusion is that some driver or software is not working properly nor letting to work properly video drivers
Hawe played Battlefield 3™ on High Setting for i would say 7 hours a no Hard reset neded, knock knock knock 3 times on wood, tfu tfu tfu spit thru left sholder!!
Steps what i did, maybe somone else has the same issue so maybe this would help you too!!
I dont know will it work for others but im sure it works for Asus G73JH-BST7 model!
Step 1:Flash newest BIOS and vBIOS - BIOS 213, v93 VBIOS for HD5870M
Step 2: Get Windows 7 Install CD ( i had Windows 7 Ultimate), install SP1, and newest updates!
Step 2.1:While installing Windows 7 delete Recovery Partition and OS Partition and make new one for clean Windows 7 Installation
Step 3: Install newest Catalyst 12.1 Preview Drivers(Sorry can't find the link and my upload speed is low so i think all who want could find it
) ! DON'T RESTART JUST YET!!
Step 4: Install all other drivers you will need without restarting when done installing other stuff, restart you Laptop
Step 5: Enjoy
P.S: I hope this helps to others who has similar issue! -
I am having the EXACT SAME Issue and have taken all the exact same steps to solve it. Thing is, I just installed windows again like 2 days ago after I bought this laptop from a coworker. I'm gonna try to wipe it again and see what happens.
-
Hawe you updated BIOS and vBIOS?
-
Ya just did the Bios update, and my VBios was updated by owner before me, verified by GPUZ. It is crashing less with the 12.1A Catalyst drivers, but problems is not solved. Yet I just crashed In BF3 like 5 min ago.
-
Sad wish i could help you
EDIT: Whats the size and the name when you download the file 12.1A Drivers?
Bump! -
Re-installed Windows 7, with all the same drivers and settings you did...
and it works like a charm now, 3 hours of play, no crashes.
SOLVED. -
