Hi
I'm using Power DVD 10 ultra to get my audio bypassed via HDMI to my Denon avr-3808.
I'm getting perfect DTS and Dolby Digital but it's impossible to get the HD audio(DTS-HD master & Dolby True HD) to my receiver.
I'm running everything "stock"
I've read that i must update to catalyst 10.3, and thus go for bios 211, vbios gary and then catalyst 10.8.
Is there another way?
Already tried the Realtek ATI HD audio driver with no result
Since my laptop is not showing any GSOD, etc etc
thx

the driver i have for my hdmi is from realtek and the number is 6.0.1.5992
Bitstreaming works fine for me although I can confess having had some issues getting it working seamlessly. You do not need to update the bios or vbios as I had it working before updating to 211 and have never updated my vbios.
You may need to wipeout the current and reinstall the correct hdmi driver however. And it my require some tweaking from the "configure" button when looking at your sound devices.
Also I am sure you have, but double check that powerdvd is sending completely unprocessed signal. there is a send unprocessed dts dd option and then underneath that is another option that sends completely unprocessed audio.
Hope I helped a bit -

yes you can do that...however stock drivers will not bitstream hd audio

See the attachement after I've update the realtek driver.
So I have to update to latest bios, vbios and ati 10.3> ?!
I mean i'm not even able to passthrough dolby digital or dts anymore after the upgrade of the realtek driverAttached Files:

hmmm... all i can see from your pdf is that it is not even trying to use your hdmi for audio. Try making hdmi the default device and then plugging the hdmi in.
You do not need to update the bios, vbios, or catalyst in order to get bitstreaming to work. You just need the correct hdmi audio driver, and it properly configured.
since your driver number is later then mine I'm guessing it will work.
If you can plug it the hdmi in and get it to recognize and switch to it on your playback device page, then highlight your hdmi connection and hit "configure", set it to 5.1 or 7.1 depending on your setup. next next next to complete setup.
Next go back to playback device page and hit properties for your hdmi, go to the "Supported Formats" tab and make sure that all formats are listed including the HD ones.
Let me know where you run into problems along that process and I can try to help figure out where the exact issue lies. -
A Rolback of the driver doesn't fix this problem....maybe i'll revert to a image 1 week ago -
Try going here Realtek
and grabbing the "ATI HDMI Audio Device" , in fact uninstall your current driver and then install the one from the link above and let me know how that goes -
At least i'm having DTS and DD passthrough again.
And it's all looking good with supported formats
See attachement
But still no HD audio passthrough ?Attached Files:

looks like you got it, there should be one more option in the drop down box in your cyberlink player "Non-decoded high definition audio to external device" see attached image.
If that is not there...Attached Files:

Mine is 10.0.0.2113.51 -
Start the movie first, then look at the audio properties for the dropdown.

Could someone link me to the version of the drivers that would work on the G73? -
oh sorry, i actually have an older version but it is ultra....dunno if yours is or not, or if that even makes a difference? -

Well i don't get it anymore! First i got at least DD or DTS passthrough and now suddenly when i plug in the hdmi kabel the "ati hdmi audio" keeps not being plugged in.
And so it's not being detected by Powerdvd or whatever.
Audio is only possible through laptop speaker.....
Strange behaviour -
Part of the solution :Solved?
Powerdvd Ultra 10.xx doesn't passthrough the HD audio signal, but
Total media Theatre 3 works.
Finally dts-hd master passthrough (and Dolby true-HD!).
1And it's only configurable " with HDMI cable inserted"
and use the correct realtek drivers
Asus G73JH-xx HD Audio output via HDMI how?
